I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There was a good atmosphere between employees there and I made many great connections with people that I am still in touch with. Security was also very helpful and always available to assist us in keeping merchandise security policies intact.

    Cons

Upper management wasn't always friendly or approachable.

I worked at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working with a great team, 21st century company with a modern vision, working for the best company in retail, diverse team.

    Cons

I was a team lead, and there was much room for advancement to the ETL level when they're constantly bringing in fresh ETL's that graduated college. The benefits are lousy to for hourly employees.

    Advice to Management

Look to what Walmart and Amazon are doing instead of constantly hiring ETL's fresh from school, get people that work for your stores in the positions!

I have been working at Target part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Fun work environment
    Caring staff members
    Flexible shifts
    Employee discount

    Cons

    Favortism
    Poor management
    Lack of organization
Not enough team members on registers

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Target for over 5 years now. I like the employees and flexible work shifts, however, management needs to treat everyone equally. I have seen them let people leave early knowing that it is busy and we need the extra help. It is quite difficult running a store on only 3 registers at high peak customer hours. I like the work and enjoy helping customers, but sometimes it is very stressful when everything is in pure chaos.

I think they need management with more experience running a team and not choosing who they think should be able to bend the rules.

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Smaller team, working alone or together.

    Cons

HQ doesn't necessarily understand the impact of changes on store. A lot of times things don't fit on shelves.

    Advice to Management

Less centralized power, allow store managers to do more.

    Cons

-development is not like how it used to be
    - Worklife balance is not a priority anymore
    - they always promote people fresh out of college who never worked retail for upper management last internals

I have been working at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Vacation time, team environment, room for growth of interested in retail, great management training, good pay for entry level position

    Cons

Work life balance, work weekends, nights and holidays, long days are expected, if your store is in a bad spot you end up leading at a lower level than you should be.

    Advice to Management

It would be nice if there were more room for development tracks at target. If you don't want to become a few niche positions then you are out of luck moving up.

    Pros

    You get a low check.

    Cons

    Pay. Is. So. Bad.

    Advice to Management

It's a joke the company is called "Tarje" like they sell fancy stuff, it's still not the greatest and they pay employees pennies.

I worked at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed working at Target everyday because of my team members and my customers. The management team rewards, encourages, and inspires team members to reward each other on their hard work. The management team encourages team members to cross-train in other departments. All team members are very welcoming, friendly, and helpful in helping each other in their work areas.

    Cons

The downside for working for Target is their schedules. They don't schedule enough cashiers and sales floor people to help close and work during busy hours. All team members will be stuck at the cashiers. Any phone calls or guest assistance on the sales floor was always being missed.

    Advice to Management

Work on scheduling a few sales floor team members to the cashiers and keep a few on the sales floor.
