I have been working at Target full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The pay is the best thing about the job. The recognition is great as well. They feed you sometimes in the breakroom

    Cons

Some of the managers at the company don't know how to talk to their team. The company hires straight out of college kids.

    Advice to Management

Treat your team with dignity and respect if you expect Ben to do what you ask of them. Have realistic expectations.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, Opportunity if you are willing to work extra hours for it.

    Cons

From the outside looking in the pay is reasonable. However, the number of responsibilities can never fit into a 50 hour week. Every year brought a management shuffle resulting in one less manager.

My boss seems to actually care about things I have going on. They are always able to work around my school schedule. Also, they often give lunch/dinner to their employees.

    Cons

    Repetitive work, retail sucks,

    Advice to Management

Stop cutting hours because you don't like someone.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Salaries and benefits are ok.

    Cons

Too much to do and not enough time to complete your workload. Upper management has unrealistic expectations.

    Advice to Management

Run a salesfloor on 170 hours. Let me know how that works out.

    Pros

They are flexible with schedule but they don't pay anything unless you are a team lead or etl. Raises suck you work a whole year for 10 cent raise

    Cons

You won't get a good raise and you won't get any hours they expect you to live of 20 hours a week and don't care

    Advice to Management

Need to care about the workers just because you make alot on salary doesn't mean you are better than anyone else

    Pros

I learned a lot. Pay was good

    Cons

Too much stress. I get 50 emails per day worth of information. Tons of conference calls. I also had to fix . I worked 14 hour days at least 4 times a week. Senior management has no clue and doesn't want to hear anything about what the real problems are. Reasons are never legitimate, no matter what.

    Advice to Management

understand what the problems are and try to help management. Give some power to the executive so they can do their job.

    Pros

Reasonable pay for hourly staff. Reasonable base pay for starting managers. Lots of great on the job experience in critical management areas such as personnel, scheduling, multitasking, customer service, critical thinking and maximizing relationships. With the number of stores opening up, opportunities to promote if you are willing to relocate several times.

    Cons

Being a DISCOUNT RETAILER and attempting to have THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE in a paradox. It is a constant battle to choose weather you want less associates so you can be profitable or you want more associates so you can give great customer service.

    Advice to Management

Understand that Managers at the store level are aware they are expected to make up for the hours they cannot spend on associate hours. Every time there is a reduction in hours available to produce the same (or more sales) it is another arrow of friendly fire in the back of those on the front line.
