I worked at Target (More than a year)

    Pros

It's not easy to stand out in the crowded discount retail space. But Target have found way - that is by, high quality brands. A few is Smith & Hawkin, Wine Cube, Michael Craves, Design, Mossimo and Simply Shabby Chic. Some of its brand are also exclusive including Market Pantry, up & up, Target Home and Merona. These products, which account third of overall sales. are a big help in boosting margins.

    Cons

Of course, Target faces mega rivals Costco, BJ's Wholesame, Family Dollar, K-Mart and Wal-Mart.

    Advice to Management

Be more personable and less Target

    Pros

room for growth if you stick to their 18 month plan

    Cons

stores are all managed differently. if you're in a low performing store it's chaotic and stressful. most managers are just waiting for their next promotion.

I worked at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great to as a entry level job

    Cons

The pay is bad and its hard to balance work and life. They take advantage of hard workers all the time. If you become to good at your job they will leave you in that position and would not allow you to grow as a worker and move up the ladder. A lot of favoritism happens as well.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The raise of pay was to small. I also thought that they would have pay for my uniform. I believe they were well establish to pay for the core workers uniform.

    Cons

I really enjoyed working for target because I learn a lot of new things. I learn about perishables product. These products are products that are spoil and out dated.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The good things is they started me off at $9.50 and I got a raise within 3mths. When you need days off you can give your shift away or if you need more hours you can take your co-workers shift. They allow you to work in other departments so you can learn the entire store.

    Cons

Working at the Target in Mt. Vernon, NY, there was no room for advancement even if you were there for 5 years or more. It's like you have to be a suck up even if you know your work well. They

    Advice to Management

Let your team members grow in the company. I think you shoukd hire within before you bring someone who is unformilia with the store and it's operations.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It is very flexible with your schedule. the executives and managers are very easy to get along with. It is a place of team work. Zero tolerance for violence and harassment

    Cons

Only the managers and executives are full time employees. The team members are all part time. The hours are not one set hours. It varies every week. After the christmas holiday is over hours are cut drastically.

    Advice to Management

Its always best to ask the opinion of the workers about the job that they do because most of the time they know it more than the managers.

    Pros

    - Very Good Starting Pay for an Executive Position if you're starting out with no experience
    - Looks great on your resume
    - Decent Benefits

    Cons

    - Too much drama!!! From the team members (employees) to Upper Management.
    - Expect to work at least 50 - 60 hours a week (especially in NY Metro stores) .. its salary!
    - Minimal Recognition for putting in hard work as an Executive
    - Politics involved in promotion - I KNOW of many particular situations that do not happen at other companies
    - VERY RARE Promotion of Team Leaders to ETL's

    Advice to Management

    - Recognize your hardest working employees - especially your managers!!!
    - Instill trust with managers - everything is too hush hush
    - Invest in your Team Leaders!!!! Too much external hiring when there are soooo many good candidates already working for us.
