I worked at Target (More than a year)

    Pros

Target leadership is definitely committed to your development and will consistently work with you to showcase your strengths and overcome your weaknesses. As an ETL, you will find yourself becoming a globally knowledgeable associate who can make business decisions about any aspect of the store.

    Cons

Target's emphasis on making store leadership global in their knowledge base is extremely challenging and, in the case of my previous position, store goals and department goals can often counteract each other and make your job highly stressful.

    Advice to Management

Stores are given very broad instructions for rolling out new programs from corporate and little to no consideration is given to each store's individual client base and needs. This should be given a much higher priority.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Money and 401K match. However, no bonus again this year.

    Cons

Everything else. Work 75 hours a week. On call every second. Day off is never off. Forth quarter is coming and expect to work even more. I will leave for work at 1pm on Thanksgiving to get ready for the night.

    Advice to Management

Get back to fast, fun and friendly

I worked at Target full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I personally liked the structure environment.

    Cons

Spent 7 years trying to be an ETL, moving up the ranks but only to a certain extent. Kept telling me I needed improvement on my communication skills (interview) but that's all. They loved the results but didn't want to pay me for it and promotions are the only way you get a decent 1 or so raise. A lot of favoritism, I trained new hires over constantly. Left the company after getting denied for a promotion for a job I was actually already successfully doing. Smh

    Advice to Management

Promote your real talents or pay them better. Definitely loved the company, but they didn't love me enough to treat me better. Or maybe it's just the locations I was based at because others seem to have had better experiences.
