I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Meeting a lot of interesting and friendly people, great coworkers, flexible work schedules, can always work extra if available.

    Cons

Difficult supervisors that don't take the time to listen to your concerns.

    Advice to Management

Hire managers and supervisors either from within the company or with experience.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was nice to be employed and have a steady paycheck. Overall I would say it's pretty on-par with any big chain retail job.

    Cons

Turnover rate is relatively high, so constantly having to deal with new management and fellow employees can get a little tiring. Most management is inexperienced. It is usually their first management experience and the quality is a mixed-bag.

    Advice to Management

Be aware that the majority of the employees who work for you are not doing so, because this is a dream job. You pay poorly and the work is easy. It's a good situation for most of us, but getting us to get so enthusiastic over new initiatives doesn't make sense.

    Pros

    - Evening Zone team has great leaders and clear direction
    - Leadership at Target (Novato) is very friendly and outgoing
    - Human Resources is willing to adjust scheduling for full-time college classes
    - Consistent team for Zoning leads to strong friendships and a great cooperative environment

    Cons

    - Daytime Sales Floor team has little leading and direction
    - Human Resources time off requests & scheduling is not always handled competently; one can feel as if they have "fallen through the cracks" if they do not pursue what they want assiduously
    - Annual reviews are not always assigned to people who know you as a worker, and thus can seem unfulfilling due to their lack of detail or recognition of good work.
    - If the check lanes or the Electronics section is flooded with guests, you might get pulled at a moment's notice from your current work to support another section several times per day for up to an hour each time.

    Advice to Management

Work harder on making sure that:
    - the people giving annual reviews have worked extensively with employees, so that they do not give a generic review
    - the Human Resources team is sufficiently staffed and can respond to time off requests/scheduling errors promptly.
