I worked at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Constant reviews on performance / salary. Fair Management. Good work environment. Stable company

    Cons

If you are not interested in moving up, they will weed you out. Ive seen it time and time again. If you are looking to "bed down" into a stagnant position, you will not last forever. They want people who are will to grow the company and if they see you as different to that model, they will weed you out.

I worked at Target (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you definitely have the aptitude for sales, and love a career that thrives on constant interaction with people coming and going, Target is one of those. It is a good startup stage for high school students to get a hands on working to supplement their allowances. it is a wonderful place for upstarts to build integrity.

    Cons

However, if you are in between jods, Target is Not a place for the academic inclined. Rotated like cattle, you just might find out your supervisor might barely or not be able to pass a fifth grade exam, but has been around long enough to give orders no matter how thoughtless.

    Advice to Management

Don't just make it a catch phrase on paper. Encourage education by actually identifying those with demonstrated academic achievement and send them to train in areas that meet their aptitudes and which will be useful to Target. Any employee wants to know there is recognition for achievement, as well as room for career progression.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great development and opportunity for advancement. It is a stable job and if you work hard they will pay you well.

    Cons

Promoting into executive management is way more difficult from inside the company versus outside. If you have your degree just learn how to interview the "Target" way and start from there. It will take much longer to promote from within to a salary position.

    Advice to Management

Have high standards but don't stifle your internal talent when the external executive hiring has such a poor success rate.
