I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very good competitive pay. Company contracts to make minimum wage $15 by 2020.

    Cons

Management doesn't care about your wellbeing. If you do your job well they will add everyone else's job. If you work another position at any time, and that position gets higher pay, you will NOT receive it. You get payed what your contracted position states.

    Advice to Management

Care more about your employees health. Share extra work equally among employees.

I worked at Target part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Room to advance if you are willing to work, I worked part time and they were very good about giving me hours that worked around my day job

    Cons

I was there for for seven years, many people come and go including turn around of mangers to other locations

    Advice to Management

Keep a good manager after they improve a store

I have been working at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good discount, especially during holidays. Know exactly what you’ll be doing each day. Easy to learn.

    Cons

Management isn’t caring at all. No sympathy for anyone. Favoritism for those there the longest. Mandatory overtime, up to 6 days a week of working. Attendance is based on “trends” so you don’t really know when you’ve missed too much.

    Advice to Management

Be sympathetic. Give employees the benefit of the doubt until they’ve given a reason not to. I missed my wife’s grandpa’s funeral because I had to work. I wasn’t even asking for bereavement, just the day off, and they would make no exception even after we gave them a copy of the obituary and service date.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Flexible Hours
    Coworkers are fantastic
    ETL''s are wonderful

    Cons

As a GSA, depending on how soon a team lead position opens up, could be very soon and this con would be worth it in the end but if you would be waiting for a position to open for a very long time this is important; you will be doing a team leads' job for the pay that is the same of someone who is walking in for the very first time to work at target. It is very discouraging.

I have been working at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some of the managers we're awesome, and willing to work around schedules.
The guests in the Rossford area are kind and a delight to assist on most days.

    Cons

Went from avg 15 - 20 hours per week to just 4 - 5 hours around holiday time.
You are permanently "not hire-able" if you quit before the 90 day "trial" period.

    Advice to Management

Establish a hierarchy in the work place and make it clear to all staff to cut down on confusion and the over-stepping of boundaries. Also, work on communication between the team members and upper management, a happier team would allow for more efficiency.

  7. "Management is uptight and unrealistic about assigning tasks, but work/home balance was good."

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Schedule Flexibility
    - Good work/home balance

    Cons

    - Low amount of hours
    - Unrealistic expectations from management
    - Nobody from management communicated with one another

    Advice to Management

    - Learn to communicate both with your fellow TL’s, and also with your TM’s. It is crucial in the retail business.

    - Realize that your team members can’t do everything at once, so assign small tasks at a time and don’t overload us.

    - Don’t schedule us for many hours one week, and not schedule us at all the next. We need balance.

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

HR staff was nice and laid back. Easy work.

    Cons

Was hired to work part time seasonal. 75% of the people who trained me, different person every day, had just barely got out of training themselves. The emphasis at the store I worked at was on tasks, greeting customers and providing assistance was never a priority or even taught. Most of the 'team leads' were pleasant to work with but there were a couple who seemed to get a kick out of berating, belittling and talking down to employees. One team lead wore a constant snarl, would even glare at customers who had the audacity to ask her something. The other team lead would target particular team members to harass and berate, especially older team members.

    Advice to Management

Your store depends on the goodwill of customers, it would be to your advantage to stress the importance of good customer service versus putting tasks as the priority. You have some team leads that are horrific to work with, you might want to put them in positions more suited to their aggressively hostile personalities and away from the sales floor.

    Pros

    Cons

Angry guests, hard to get promoted. Seems like you have to be “buddy buddy” with STL to move up in the company
