I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very organized and streamlined. I liked that the managers and directors were by your side doing the grudge work

    Cons

    Wish I had more training

    Advice to Management

More incentives for your good workers.

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Decent Pay
    People are okay
Sometimes you get Starbucks for free!

    Cons

    The hours are never steady
You have no control over hours
You can request time off and ALWAYS get denied
Don't try to change your availability, even if your in school they won't listen
In December you can have 40+ hours a week and in January you can have 9+ hours. NOT STEADY.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your team members. Don't treat your team like crap just because you are "management". Also, don't cut people's hours so that you can get a bonus.

I worked at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good pay, good coworkers

    Cons

Management is super corrupt and unfair, they pick favorites, the job in beauty sucks. You don’t get to sell anything because you’re too busy pushing so much truck all the time and it’s the only thing they care about.

    Pros

Target has their own language. It doesn’t take long to see why they call you a team member and not just an employee.

    Cons

It’s a corporation and with it comes your typical corporate stuff...

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people were largely great. I met a number of nice people and most customers were nice. The money was pretty good.

    Cons

The downside of working as a Target Starbucks Barista is that you make more money to basically be treated like a second-class citizen. The Starbucks department is pushed to do better constantly, but when no one in management has ever worked at a Starbucks it makes things extremely difficult. Our manager would have us do things that were part of his/her job regularly. He/she was also managing like three departments at a time, which was a problem for us. We also did not have a team leader for just our department, which would have fixed many of the issues. The other big issue was the inconsistent hours and the fact that Targets hire more part-timers than they can actually afford hours for.

    Advice to Management

Please just hire a Starbucks team lead. It would pay off tenfold.

    Pros

Great company to work for. Aside from this job, good wages compared with other jobs. Very diverse workforce. Good employee discount.

    Cons

For the amount of work and the expectations they have of me, I’m definitely underpaid. Often expected to do supervision/managerial things at the same pay as a cashier. Advancement opportunities exist, but it takes forever! Medical benefits don’t start until after more than a year.

    Advice to Management

"You now must work with your staff to achieve your department and your organizational goals. Your role is to work with others, to help them be productive and effective." Stone offers these tips for first-time managers: Identify your department's goals, and determine the resources needed to achieve them.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good starting pay, discount, you know about the good online returns first though you have to wait a half hour to buy. Plenty of opportunity to learn new positions and bounce around. Part time benefits. Working part time does not mean you’re restricted to part time hours, it just means you’re hourly, not salary.

    Cons

My store gets crazy busy at back to school and it can be stressful. Zoning is the worst and it makes no sense to do it at night when the overnight team is going to stock right over it and customers ruin the zone as we do it. We should zone in the morning.

    Advice to Management

The zoning issue for sure. Continue to support your employees and gain their loyalty. For the most part, I have no complaints.

    I worked at Target part-time

    Pros

The pay is the best part and my coworkers are good friends now.

    Cons

Don’t work here if you have anxiety. Management stalks your every move. And they will constantly talk to you about what’s wrong and embarrassingly make you speak to a guest as they watch and write notes. NO MATTER long you’ve worked there. If you do something wrong then each manager will say something to you. Constantly stressing you out. Most are rude and they don’t care about scheduling if you request off work.

    Advice to Management

If you wonder why good employees quit so much. Then consider what you have done. No job ever has treated such hard working employees like you do.
