Heavy workload with little assistance from management. Bad pay, dead-end job.

    Advice to Management

Don't schedule people to do the night shift and then the next opener. It's stupid.

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Decent Pay
    People are okay
Sometimes you get Starbucks for free!

    Cons

    The hours are never steady
You have no control over hours
You can request time off and ALWAYS get denied
Don't try to change your availability, even if your in school they won't listen
In December you can have 40+ hours a week and in January you can have 9+ hours. NOT STEADY.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your team members. Don't treat your team like crap just because you are "management". Also, don't cut people's hours so that you can get a bonus.

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Okay pay, small discount and paid breaks

    Cons

Management is very disrespectful and rude. They don't comply with availability. They set time limits to finish a task but don't factor in break time. They'll treat you like you're invaluable and unimportant.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to be a leader and not a micro-manager. Comply with employee availablity. Take the time to make employees feel comforatable and well trained. Do not take your workers for granted and stop talking about employees behind their backs. This isn't high school, grow up.

    Pros

    Good pay, good coworkers

    Cons

Management is super corrupt and unfair, they pick favorites, the job in beauty sucks. You don’t get to sell anything because you’re too busy pushing so much truck all the time and it’s the only thing they care about.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Target has their own language. It doesn’t take long to see why they call you a team member and not just an employee.

    Cons

It’s a corporation and with it comes your typical corporate stuff...

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people were largely great. I met a number of nice people and most customers were nice. The money was pretty good.

    Cons

The downside of working as a Target Starbucks Barista is that you make more money to basically be treated like a second-class citizen. The Starbucks department is pushed to do better constantly, but when no one in management has ever worked at a Starbucks it makes things extremely difficult. Our manager would have us do things that were part of his/her job regularly. He/she was also managing like three departments at a time, which was a problem for us. We also did not have a team leader for just our department, which would have fixed many of the issues. The other big issue was the inconsistent hours and the fact that Targets hire more part-timers than they can actually afford hours for.

    Advice to Management

Please just hire a Starbucks team lead. It would pay off tenfold.
