I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Fun work environment.
Often offer perks like food for employee breaks, games to win prizes, etc.
    Lots of opportunity for promotion.
Additional 20% employee discount on wellness items such as produce, organic food, and fitness equipment.
    Flexible with day off requests.

    Cons

    Occasional lack of communication.
    Expectations not always clear.
Expectations not always realistic (heavily zone and reshop 2-3 departments alone in 2-3 hours)
If you're a good employee, you will get more and more workload. Not always a bad thing, but can often lead to stressful shifts.
Oversights in scheduling can lead to 7+ days of work in a row.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Most of the other team members are friendly and good to work with.

    Cons

    Favoritism
    Lack of scheduled hours
Sr. Mgmt. will not address problems.
Corporate's decision to raise minimum wage was a slap in the face of current employees.

    Advice to Management

RAISE all team members' wages by the same percentage you raised minimum wage!! After more than 4 years of service, I am working for the same rate of pay as someone that started today!

I have been working at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Literally, the only pro I can give is that SOME of my coworkers are extremely kind.

    Cons

    • The LOD and GSTL only cares about you if you get a Redcard. Otherwise, you're nothing to them.
    • If you call off sick, they do not care to wish you better. I called off sick with a head cold and I was hung up on after calling off. It was extremely rude. This happens with every LOD who I tell I have to call off to.
    • Cashiers are the least cared about even though we stop theft at the front of the store and insure all things are checked out and sketchy coupons aren't used.
    • If you work at the self checkout, you'll find yourself standing for 8 hours watching guests purchase their things correctly. There is no stool or designated place for the self check out team member.
    • When I started working at Target, I was seasonal but when my seasonal position was over, they never contacted me to ask if I would like to continue working for them they just kept me on the schedule.
    • The target I worked for always repeatedly asked me to stay over my regular shift hours. They would put me on the spot. For example, if my shift were from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. they would ask me to stay another hour.

    Advice to Management

Knightvest management would be to Consider your team members/employees more than you do the money your store makes in a day.
We help you make that money and we deserve respect.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Majority of the employees are nice and helpful. The pay is better than most retail jobs. Discount is 10% with an additional 20% off fresh fruit/vegetables and their simply balances brand. If you pay with your red card you get 5% off as well. The job is really easy.

    Cons

They constantly schedule people more hours than what they were hired for, they also schedule you on days you are not available and expect you to cover the shifts. Very little training. The rules don't apply to everyone and the management plays favorites. You are not supposed to have drinks in the store however most employees have one but only some people get a talking to about while the person next to them gets nothing said to them.

    Advice to Management

Stick to employee's availability and hours requested. Give more training and the processes of the store. Treat everyone the same, your corporate policy is to treat everyone fairly but the store management does not.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great pay, set schedule, generous time off if you can take it.

    Cons

Extremely high turnover on all levels, especially management. Employees are punished for doing well in their roles by being denied opportunities for advancement. Workload from department to department is extremely skewed and nobody seems to care. Senior management is manipulative and regularly lie to their managers and team members

    Advice to Management

Stop letting known problems stay problems for years, treat your teams fairly and equally and actually give people the support they need and deserve rather than just saying it.

Good pay and benefits but that's it

    Cons

    Horrible schedule

    No room for growth
    Extremely high turnover

    Advice to Management

Promote from within some of the time and realize employees also have families and lives.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People are nice to work with
    Good pay
    Good workout

    Cons

Appreciation for employees is severely lacking
    Understaffed
Expectations for completion of duties even within a 4 hour work shift are redicolous if not impossible.
Stressful work environment is putting this place lightly

    Advice to Management

Show appreciation to your team more, and worry less about selling credit cards.
Appreciate what your team members do within the shift time constraints more and worry less about getting everything done
Saying thank you goes a long way

Great culture and atmosphere. Work life balance is fantastic. Plenty of opportunities to develop. Senior execs are great people to work with.

    Cons

Some warehouse workers are entitled and can't seem to realize how good they've got it.

    Advice to Management

Keep things interesting. Don't standardize everything. Innovate and try stuff.
