I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great advancement opportunities. They are excited about the potential new people bring in. Usually good starting pay, couple dollars above the minimum wage. Great team atmosphere and constructive criticism as well as kudos often given by management. Will most times work around your schedule if you prove yourself an asset to the team.

    Cons

Faking a smile puts you in a lot better position. Once the newness wears off, they start to lose interest. HEAVY concentration on REDcard conversions. Beginning of the year is lacking in hours. Management changes OFTEN.

    Advice to Management

Employees like when you are up front with them. If you dont reach your redcard goal one day, something isn't wrong, please stop assuming that.

    Pros

Compensation and benefits are pretty good. Location is in a growing city next to everyday conveniences.

    Cons

Advancement opportunities, culture, work environment, and lack of people development.

If you are considering opportunities at the Lacey, WA building do yourself a favor and think twice. It's not worth what the culture will put you through. The building is being run by people who could care less about the employees that work for them, have a deep lack of understanding of operations, and would rather drive a negative culture that has pushed countless talented ops managers out of the building.

    Advice to Management

There is a reason ops manager turnover is astronomical. Fix the culture and stop stomping on ops managers to solve the buildings problems.

    Pros

Four ten hour shifts Tues through Friday 6am to 430pm

    Cons

You get fired if you are too happy! I was told I was to happy that it made a supervisor unsafe she said :/

    Advice to Management

To let loose a little bit while still being safe

Loved working at Target. "Fast, Fun, and Friendly" environment. Both great team members and guests. Often free lunches and incentives. Encouraging, upbeat place to work.

    Cons

Its retail so no set schedule. Holiday hours can be be difficult. Pushing that red card can be annoying.

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Team members (everyone but management) are AMAZING, wonderful people who try their best, but are unfortunately kept from doing their jobs by incompetent leaders. Pay is decent.

    Cons

Everyone's wonderful... except the people running the store. It feels like you're on the set of the movie Mean Girls, except Regina George is your HR representative so you can't even talk to anyone about it. They don't care about their team members. You can't get enough hours to survive, but you have to have open availability so you can't get another job, and you are constantly understaffed. There's nothing you can do because... surprise, surprise... they never have enough hours. Pushing the RedCard is an actual form of torture.

    Advice to Management

Care about your team. Get off your phones. Actually do your job and stop blaming other people for the state of the store. You guys are the ones who ran it into the ground.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Most of the people I got the chance to work with were amazing. The job was fun and I got to build great relationships with my customers. They were also were very willing to work with your schedule if needed.

    Cons

The only downside to this job was the hours. The only time I really got the hours I needed was during the holiday season.
