I worked at Target part-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

    Not a stationary position. Push.

    Cons

Leads pushing for unrealistic expectations in a short amount of time. Backroom work area unsafe & crowded with inventory. Unorganized & low on zebras, boxcutters, walkie talkies and portable printers. Leads failure to follow through. We manage people not product yet failing at that. The human resources is a joke. I have been working at Target full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

In a word, benefits. Target as a company works fairly hard at taking care of it’s employees and providing a wide range of benfits. Even when they closed a couple of warehouses, they still tried to do right by those employees by offering them positions at other warehouses.

    Cons

The revolving door of management. In our building we go through 8 - 10 managers a year. Continuity of work flolw is hard to maintain when are constantly training new managers. Many of whom have never worked in a distribution warehouse before.

    Advice to Management

If your building is doing poorly you want to find where the problems are and address them. That doesn’t mean treating everyone like they are doing things wrong. You should be evaluating what is going right as well as wrong. Find those who are succeeding and see if their methods can be applied and taught to others.

I worked at Target part-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Great advancement opportunities. They are excited about the potential new people bring in. Usually good starting pay, couple dollars above the minimum wage. Great team atmosphere and constructive criticism as well as kudos often given by management. Will most times work around your schedule if you prove yourself an asset to the team.

    Cons

Faking a smile puts you in a lot better position. Once the newness wears off, they start to lose interest. HEAVY concentration on REDcard conversions. Beginning of the year is lacking in hours. Management changes OFTEN.

    Advice to Management

Employees like when you are up front with them. If you dont reach your redcard goal one day, something isn't wrong, please stop assuming that.

      I worked at Target

      Pros

Compensation and benefits are pretty good. Location is in a growing city next to everyday conveniences.

      Cons

Advancement opportunities, culture, work environment, and lack of people development. If you are considering opportunities at the Lacey, WA building do yourself a favor and think twice. It's not worth what the culture will put you through. The building is being run by people who could care less about the employees that work for them, have a deep lack of understanding of operations, and would rather drive a negative...
