I worked at Target full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you manage to end up with a great team it will vastly improve the overall job itself, but I believe that goes without saying. Usually was able to get unpaid time off without much push-back and the benefits were decently prices. They attempt to give you every other weekend off, but that doesn't always happen.

    Cons

Understaffed CONSTANTLY. I was usually running the front end with less people than what I believed to be the bare minimum. The job in itself is not difficult, what makes it difficult/frustrating is having to do 4 jobs at once because you have no help.

    Advice to Management

Be more welcoming and approachable. Involve middle management when hiring as they are the people that will be working with these team members far more than you will. COMMUNICATION and TRANSPARENCY.

I worked at Target full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Compensation is competitive for all positions.

    Cons

Company is determined to rid itself of experienced employees while focusing on hiring young, cool leaders who have no clue about the retail business, positive leadership or how take care of their teams. District leadership is focused on making sure everyone knows that their jobs are on the line- thinking that is the way to get the team motivated. Company removed work-life balance language from the Employee Handbook- an indication of Target HQ's push to be like Walmart in the way it treats it's team.

    Advice to Management

Analyze your districts with high leader turnover and evaluate the District Team Leaders and district-level leaders. Turnover can be positive and necessary, yet, high turnover is an indication of district leadership that does not care about the team.

I have been working at Target full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexible hours and sometime they put a little food and drink in the team member break area. But that has nothing to do with the company. Usually the credit goes to Human Resources.

    Cons

You will have to deal with managment playing favorites. There is no accountability for how unproductive someone is. Also they do not care how long someone works there and how commited they are. DRAMA everywhere. They hire people into upper management that are straight out of college and have no time or experience with any type of retail so they have to be trained by people who make 1/2 or 1/3 their wage per hour. Upper management looks at regular team members like they are so much better than them with very few exceptions. They also cover up so much shady stuff its crazy. They expect 1 person to do the work of 3 or more. I could go on and on.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your veteran team members. They are the people influencing the constant flow of new team members. Fix the fact that the people that have been with this company for years, defended this company, and made a real difference in there store make the same amount as the people that just started today!

I worked at Target full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good pay for the work, Okay benefits, they try to develop female and minority leaders

    Cons

Human resources has never been helpful, Inflexible hours (even though when you first start they say they will be flexible), zero accountability, VERY bureaucratic, chronically understaffed, morale chronically low

    Advice to Management

It would be nice if brand new team members weren't making the same as people that have worked there for 3+ years. This leads to dissatisfaction and low morale among your team members. Human resources should take complaints more seriously and brush less under the rug, especially if Target wants to maintain its "inclusive" reputation. Accountability for ALL team members should be enforced, not just the ones the HRTL dislikes. The interview process needs to be reevaluated based on how high the turnover is. Maybe actually check references or run drug tests? Keeping the floor chronically understaffed helps no one except maybe the bonuses for the senior management.

I have been working at Target part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Experience gaining, critical thinking and customer service building. Friendly management team and no experience needed to do well in the store. HR is in the store!

    Cons

Not many people are being kept after hiring, and current staff is not use to and don't like change. Low devices to use for work purposes.

    Advice to Management

Try to increase advertisement for employment.

    I worked at Target

    Pros

Discount, guests, co-workers. It was always a pleasant experience being at work when they weren't shifting managers around and the process of how work is completed. Huddles are always a nice thing especially to know what's going on inside the store.

    Cons

    Some managers, red card push

    Advice to Management

    It's not high school
