I have been working at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some of the best reasons to work at Target are the awesome team work and great atmosphere. The people are awesome.

    Cons

Some of the downsides to working at Target is lack of communication. Certainly the team leads could communicate better and work together more.

    Advice to Management

Management could absolutely work on improving communication in the store and with the team

I have been working at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Pay and benefits are okay
It's nice helping out guests and making their day.
    There are SOME great employees

    Cons

    Management
Toxic environment (everyone gossips, very few peer employees even say "hello" or "good morning" to you, everyone hates their job and do nothing about it)
    No upward mobility
Many employees that have been their for years are resistant to any change.
    Not very forgiving with scheduling.

    Advice to Management

Actually train new employees instead of expecting them to know everything right away. Try to get to know your employees on a more personal level. Follow-up with employees with constructive criticism. Stop gossiping behind people's back, if an employee does something wrong, tell them and show them how to fix it.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very flexible with students, in my experience. I started in high school as a Senior and have been working there since (3.5 years). Very accommodating to my class/school schedule, willing to relocate me for Summers, etc.

    Cons

Little upward mobility internally. A Team Member has a lot of opportunities to show their value and turn that into a Team Leader promotion, but past that you'll hit a wall. One Executive Team Leader (ETL) told me point blank: if you want to be come an ETL, quit and apply for the position after 6 months.

    Advice to Management

Really depends on the store. First store I worked at, I had no real gripes. Current store, I have a perfectionist ETL that doesn't really understand the environment that she works in at this location.

Its an okay seasonal job. after the season ends hours are cut and you work about 1-2 days a week. no fulltime opportunities so if that's what youre looking for do not work here.

    Cons

Poor Hours. Horrible holiday hours. Employee Discount. Not flexible at all. benefits are horrible and over priced.

    Advice to Management

    Not available

  5. "Incredible place to work. You're expected to do quite a bit, and hours are far from flexible, but it'll be worth it."

    Pros

Target has a great corporate culture. It is a team based environment and individuals who work there work well together.

    Cons

Downsides include long and odd hours, hard to get necessary days off, and not-consistant hours week-to-week. Turnover is high at Target.
