I worked at Target (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible with requests off and scheduling. Management is generally easy to work with and professional. Decent company culture.

    Cons

Since raising wages this past year, corporate has decided to slash costs elsewhere. Logistics can hardly work before the store's opening, because the company wants to save money on the one dollar pay differential. Hours are erratic, with full time employees losing up to 20 hours per week, even in early 4th quarter. Departments are purposefully understaffed to save payroll.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with the respect that you used to. Don't treat them as a profit drain.

Personal selling doesn't work in a big box retail store.

    - Flexible Hours
    - Ability to request days off
    - Friendly Environment

I worked at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They kept you busy. And they have some good benefits. And they allow you to move up within the company although the amount of years you have put in.

    Cons

Its a lot of standing and you can be working three or four departments at the same time with no help. And the team members who have been there for years will not help

    Advice to Management

Hire people who really enjoy retail to lead. And also work on the training system

I have been working at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you don’t have any worries in the world this is great I.e. high school students or college students. Love to put you to work

    Cons

The management doesn’t even know what’s going on so good luck with that. They live to put you to work but cap your hours and love to try and short hand your hours.

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay for a minimum wage job. Relatively easy work. Fast paced environment. Your fellow team members really begin to feel like family. Easy to pick up extra hours.

    Cons

No room for advancement or growth. Very hard to become anything other than a cashier. Rude guests. Inflexible scheduling. Management is not willing to work with you on many things. Very easy to feel under appreciated.

    Advice to Management

Don’t expect employees to bend over backwards for you when you can’t even lift your pinky finger for them. Promote from within, create incentives to make people want to work harder.
