I worked at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Progressive company, decent pay, substantial discounts.

    Cons

Prone to the same skeleton crew mechanics of most corporate giants. Advancement is more based on who you know, and not your individual performance.

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, good benefits, great people. Work isn't too difficult, but can be a workout on flow team. Discount is helpful.

    Cons

Team leads are rude, play favorites. Easy to get hurt. Other employees sometimes do not pay attention and can lead to injuries.

    Advice to Management

Listen to what team members say instead of taking your opinion of them and basing them on that.

I worked at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good salary right out of college
    Fast paced environment
    Good development program
Good management experience - get to test your leadership
    Hands on

Target does attract some smart, great people

    Cons

Work/life balance is hard to come by
    Schedule - nights/weekends/holidays
    10 hour work day minimums
First assignment they place you wherever (no real thought to where you're going, no matter what they tell you about it)
Transferable skills to other fields tap out after ~2 years

As much as they attract great people, there are a lot of unintelligent and "lifer" types

    Advice to Management

Focus more closely on how each STL (store team leader) runs their store - successful or bottom performing - so that the DTL (district team leader) can see what's really going on & actively help all stores in their district... And in turn, succession plan more accurately.
