    Cons

    Cashiering can be very draining. It was very hot in my store in the middle of the summer which is to be expected almost anywhere.

    Pros

    You meet some great people and get to learn a lot about what goes on throughout the store. It's really nice to have a schedule out for two weeks. Some Team leads and Executive Team leads are easy to talk to, but not all. You can get a lot of hours if you work hard.

    Cons

    Promotions are definitely to those who are favorites or those who are buddy-buddy with Team Leads. Difficult to talk to some Team Leads and ETLs. When you have an issue with a team member or someone above you, nothing gets worked out or changes. They could also give more than a 10% discount.

    Advice to Management

    Promote based on work ethic, not because someone is your friend. Listen to what your team members say, because they will leave if you don't.

    Pros

    -Good people to work with on the front end
    -good discount
    -timely break time given. (2 hours between, including meal.)
    -very clean

    Cons

    -scheduling is difficult. (Need to know 3 weeks in advance when you want off.)
    -higher up staff members take advantage.

    Advice to Management

    When it comes to asking for time give a little more room for us to ask off and actually have chances to switch shifts. Also have someone check on the people who are higher up than cashiers. Some are abusive of their power.

    Target is a great company to work for.
    Fast work environment. Positive atmosphere.
    Scheduling system is better than in other similar companies.
    Management and coworkers are friendly.
    Discount 10%.

    Cons

    Sometimes it is difficult to get more than 15 hours a week.
    Sometimes you have to work late because there is not enough people on the shift.

    Keep good leaders and treat them well.

    Standing all day, late nights especially during holidays, inability to make meaningful improvements.

    Pros

    -Fairly competitive base pay for retail
    -Some degree of autonomy depending on your work center

    Cons

    -Because it is retail, you'll be working nights, weekends and holidays no matter your position
    -Benefits are lackluster and deductibles are high
    -Hourly employees with often see their schedule and total hours fluctuate wildly

    Advice to Management

    Allow current employees to apply for the executive team lead internships, instead of 22 year old recent college grads. You're missing out on a lot of talent that leaves for greener pastures because of it.
