I worked at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Unfortunately, I can't think of one pro except there are some very nice people working there.

    Cons

Target goes out of its way to avoid allowing employees to communicate to the corporate level. There is no email, there is no website, there is no way of going outside your own store which is, in and of itself, a problem. Outside management needs to take a look at inside management. ServPro, there "independent" food service auditors, does an abysmal job and I have photos to prove it, but nowhere to send them. I can't get too specific since I don't want to be identified, but I have to ask outside management, "Why is the VP allowed to keep a side kick by his side at all times? Why is he (and she) allowed to bully and/or lie to employees?

    Advice to Management

Give employees the opportunity to reach outside their store if they have a concern/complaint. If I had called OSHA or food inspectors in, store 2092 would have gotten cited.

I worked at Target (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Coworkers
    Discount
Literally nothing else is a pro

    Cons

    Everything else:
    Customers
    Management
Pay doesn't equal the amount they expect you to do
They schedule you the days you explicitly state you can't work and don't schedule you days you can work.

    Advice to Management

Stop acting like you're above working with your coworkers and don't stretch them thin. Also stop pushing red cards and people that don't want them.

I have been working at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Overall a good experience
    -Simple environment
    -repetitive routine.
-doesn't take a rocket scientist to do your job
    -perfect for high school students
-perfect job for older people as well 40-60
    - you get free food every now and then

    Cons

    - They force to put "open availability" for the whole week or you pretty much don't get the job.
-numerous LOD aka as managers of the store very unrpfofessional/ unorganized
-takes years to start seeing growth within the company.
-the LODs will not assign full time hours. unless you have been working for them over a year. Or if you're are an LOD.
    - expect no more than 24 hours a week if you're just a regular team member.
-been here for 8 months and get no more than 20hours the week. (Expect holiday season)
    - their team leads are also very rude to older team members and are notably very stressed & passive aggressive. (They tend to be young)
    - if you're a college student on your own, impossible make ends meet so just run away.
    - female dominated so aka lots of drama and rumors get around easily.
    - you will see that management cares more about what's trending on social media more than what's going on at work.
-HR makes it difficult and takes forever to enroll for benefits.
    - you will never have a set schedule because it will change every week.

    Pros

    Reasonable hours as needed

    Cons

Extremely stressful atmosphere, management was horrible and not understanding, they take the customer side over the employee

    Advice to Management

Be better managers and have the employees back. Don't think they are lying because they call out sick for any reason. Have more than enough people trained in every area to be able to cover call outs. Also when calling for back up come over and help don't tell us no one is available when we can see you just standing near the door talking to each other.

    I worked at Target full-time

    Pros

Hours of work are odd but honestly the best option out there for different needs.
    Ability to learn different departments
    Team work environment
    Motivated team members

    Cons

Feedback from senior staff and junior staff meetings seems genuine but isn't always forthcoming
Team members can dictate junior management staffing
Senior management doesn't support junior management staff with team members

    Advice to Management

Coach management staff better before making rash descisions

I worked at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

My coworkers were great. They offered benefits to part timers (including paid maternity). Once you're there for awhile your schedule becomes more flexible.

    Cons

Favors certain people. Tend to only pay attention to the bad employees whenever they do something good but whenever a good employee does something right it goes un noticed. Pay was low for what the job entailed.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring young people to run a store. Half of them have never worked retail but since they have a degree you give them a job. While I worked her I was getting my bachelors degree and I was treated like crap and managers NEVER granted me time off when I needed it. They've been to college so why treat college students so poorly. Management is a JOKE

I worked at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible, team members are fun, one stop shop

    Cons

The supervisors have huge egos and always try to prove they run the show.
You aren't able to be yourself

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to your employees and let them be them.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Wellness discount, friendly co-workers, hourly rate is pretty good

    Cons

Very low hours, discount payment limitations, discount 10%, management is inexperienced and selfish, raises as low as 9¢, college students get more hours even though their availability is more restricted

    Advice to Management

Grow up, care about your employees
