I have been working at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great team, friendly co-workers, great breakroom food, team leads care about their staff.
They are really flexible with my schedule as I go on LOA twice a year for a long period of time. They treat each other like family.

    Cons

I don't know if this is still the case but selling Red Cards was highly encouraged which personally I didn't really like.

    Pros

Really focuses on development. They understand different levels of leadership and have many tools to help you grow as a leader.

    Cons

Work life balance. I always felt like I needed to be there. When dealing with team members, there was little flexibility when it came to work life balance.

    Advice to Management

Need to try not to fit every execUtive in the same hole. Really dig down to better understand what/where people can shine.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

On-the-job training, opportunity for advancement, salary, benefits, flexible schedule, team work

    Cons

Little room for creativity or individual thinking; company is too dependent on what it deems as best practice, even if there is a more efficient way to get the job done. Work-life balance is an issue, and stores are currently suffering from low payroll to get long list of objectives done daily.

    Advice to Management

Redesign stores to better prepare for impending shift to online shopping (ie. reduce sales floor foot print, expand in-store warehouse, add drive-through pickup window for pickup in store option). Do everything you can to ensure team leaves within 1 hour of closing - causing morale issues.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people are what make this place so great! This job is all about interacting and learning how to manage different people with all different kinds of talent levels. Challenging at times, but always pays off in the end!

    Cons

Hard work. This job is not in an office and requires you to get your hands dirty. Sometimes you have to take a step back and humble yourself a little by doing tasks that the team members do in order to make it through the day.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Many female managers, even in engineering/tech world.
Lots of different types of work and areas to focus on, if you get bored management will help you move to a new area/team. We've got app development, backend stores systems, .com website and backend support systems, internally facing tools and applications, etc.
Quite relaxed, unlike other tech companies. Very lenient on working from home, leaving early... as long as things get done, of course. I personally always leave the office an hour early and then work from home for a bit every day to avoid traffic and it is no problem. It likely depends on your team/manager and I've landed in a good spot.

    Cons

the normal bureaucratic junk - managing dependencies with other teams is a hassle, just like at most other companies
Different campuses - one in downtown Minneapolis and one in the middle of nowhere 20 miles away. Teams occasionally shuffle around and get moved, which can be a huge pain depending on your new commute. I personally know at least 7 talented people who quit because their commutes changed from a quick 20 minute bus ride into downtown to a 2+ hour round trip nightmare trying to get to the opposite side of the twin cities during rush hour. So if you consider coming to Target, choose your housing location carefully.
