I have been working at Target full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

decent starting pay and topout rate

    Cons

you are nothing but a number to them.10 days your over 100% prod and they say nothing.1 day youre at 85% and they rush over asking whats wrong.Managers are clueless to how time consuming certain things are in the warehouse and how basic functions are done. But thats what u get when u hire managers with no experience.

    Advice to Management

ask the team members for advice and suggestions on certain issues.Dont just make a change and see how it goes then 2 weeks later change it again because it didnt work.Have a better understanding of what a worker actually goes through.

    I worked at Target full-time

    Pros

Worked with great people (other GLs and team members). Good for experience right out of college and good for a resume builder...that's about it sad to say. Good benefits and 401k. I had higher expectations. I recommend for experience but not long term (1-2 years).

    Cons

Group Leaders are not valued by upper management, they are easily replaceable. Because of that, most quit after 6 months to a couple years. I worked there just over 2 years and I saw and average of 1 GL quit per month, that's 24 in 2 years! Also, after about a year into working there, the GM was new, all of HR and the senior leadership team was new as well. Some got fired and some quit. Since I left in February 2016, I know of at least 6 other GLs that have quit as well to go to competitors. Warehouse workers are favored over managers because they are afraid of a union forming. HR makes too many friends with managers and warehouse workers, they should be separate and unbiased, however, they let their friends influence their decisions. It is very political and feels like high school. It's really hard to get any support from HR or upper management, they are not very involved in the operation. Overall I had a very disappointing experience and I had higher expectations for such a large, established company. I am now at a competitor and much happier!

    Advice to Management

Get to know your leaders (GLs). Be on their side and support them. Be more involved in the business. Don't let politics and friends come before leaders who perform, work hard, and do the right thing. Make your opinions of leaders based on YOUR observations, not others gossip.
To HR, don't make friends at work, you should be unbiased.

They are a safety oriented company, very focused on the environment and stress safety every day.

    Cons
