I have been working at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is higher compared to other retailers. Annual Bonuses + Base Pay Raises. GOOD benefits and vacation time. Extremely Diverse (Gender, Age, Race, Sexuality). 10% Discount. Great work experience in retail management because of the amount of responsibility/higher volume of sales compared to others. Target is very innovative with trying new things for the guests and the company is very social media savvy. Job stability. You can rotate to different assignments if you do well. Logistics to Sales Floor. Sales Floor to Human Resources, etc. Target is a family business. Great work culture.

    Cons

Work life balance is tough. It's retail. Not good if you don't like being on your feet. Time off is frowned upon during Q4 (October-December). 10 hour work days are expected. 12 hour work days are not uncommon. You will work weekends, but they rotate and you will be off every other weekend. On-Boarding/Training can be a toss up depending on the time/store. Payroll is really limited and creates unnecessary stress.

    Advice to Management

The pay is amazing. The culture is great. The opportunities are great. Please start prioritizing work life balance a little more. Increase payroll. Test roll outs at stores before you require everyone to do them.

I have been working at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Overall a good experience
    -Simple environment
    -repetitive routine.
-doesn't take a rocket scientist to do your job
    -perfect for high school students
-perfect job for older people as well 40-60
    - you get free food every now and then

    Cons

    - They force to put "open availability" for the whole week or you pretty much don't get the job.
-numerous LOD aka as managers of the store very unrpfofessional/ unorganized
-takes years to start seeing growth within the company.
-the LODs will not assign full time hours. unless you have been working for them over a year. Or if you're are an LOD.
    - expect no more than 24 hours a week if you're just a regular team member.
-been here for 8 months and get no more than 20hours the week. (Expect holiday season)
    - their team leads are also very rude to older team members and are notably very stressed & passive aggressive. (They tend to be young)
    - if you're a college student on your own, impossible make ends meet so just run away.
    - female dominated so aka lots of drama and rumors get around easily.
    - you will see that management cares more about what's trending on social media more than what's going on at work.
-HR makes it difficult and takes forever to enroll for benefits.
    - you will never have a set schedule because it will change every week.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Competitive 401k
    - Great benefits and employee resources
    - Paid vacation and sick time

    Cons

    - YOU WILL SPEND AN UNNECESSARY AMOUNT OF TIME DOING LOW IMPACT WORK (stocking, cashiering, cleaning up trash, etc.) BUT THEN WILL BE REPRIMANDED FOR UNDERPERFORMING IN YOUR WORK CENTER.
    - Too many "leaders" and no one is on the same page
    - Subpar training, yet you will be expected to perform unfamiliar tasks with very tight deadlines
    - Unnecessarily heavy workload. Cryptic and conflicting expectations. Extremely high levels of stress
    - Is afraid of holding criminals accountable. Cares more about "brand" than stopping thieves. They will place you on a final warning or terminate you for "gross misconduct" if you do "accuse people of stealing" when they clearly are.
    - No work life balance. You will be constantly contacted by your Store Team Leader or Business Partners when you are away from the building.
    - A lot of pressure to attain a daily Red Card goal when you are Leader On Duty when you are running around the entire store.
    - Extremely lenient with underperforming or dishonest team members
    - Cares more about being a philosophy than a business
    - Outdated equipment. Computer devices are constantly experiencing technical difficulties.
-50+ hour work weeks with no lunch breaks.

    Advice to Management

    - Your metrics are the surface of the problems with your processes. I suggest you look deeper
    - Start listening to your employees and be receptive to feedback even if it sounds like "pushback". They are, after all, at the forefront of everything you should be fixing.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours. Employee discount is decent. Put me through school and allowed me to work full time. Ap is the best department for full time hours. Sales floor will never give you full time hours.

    Cons

It's retail. Other departments wouldn't give the hours assets protection does. Purposely keep you below 20 hours so they don't have to provide benefits.

    Pros

10% discount free snacks in breakroom free flu shots. Um yeah that's about it.

    Cons

The leads act like they know what they are doing but don't. They make the team members figure it out all out.

    Advice to Management

Please don't act fake. It just makes us hate you more. No need to seperate employees the same amount of work gets done.

I worked at Target as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The Target I worked at was very team-oriented. We were all like family. I enjoyed the recognition of hard work and there are plenty of promotional opportunities even if you transfer to another location. Supervisors are very encouraging and super go-getters.

    Cons

The pay isn't much at all and neither are the raises.

    Advice to Management

Please come up with betters ways on pitching Red Cards. Since the security breach a couple of years ago no one is interested in a target credit card but we are required to make a certain goal. We need ways to improve this.
