I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun team environment, great prize incentives and team theme days offered by store management for achieving red card and sales goals.
    Awesome employee discount.
Cashier work was pretty mindless and customers were easy going a majority of the time.

    Cons

Pushing Red Cards was annoying sometimes.
Calling Out was difficult to manage for a part timer who wasn't in the store everyday.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very fair compensation. Do a great job and you will be rewarded.

    Cons

Constant shift in store management results in a lack of consistency and breaks up good routines. New management can come in with strong power trips and deflate morale. There is not much room for internal promotion.

    Advice to Management

Be more open to feedback and challenges from team members. The worker bees are often more in tune with their individual business than you are. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel.

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Honest and actually care about their employees! Very rare among retailers
Flexible schedule all you have to do is your job to stay in good favor

    Cons

Seasonal only positions and little hours when not in holiday season

    Advice to Management

Keep caring about your employees and give more hours out to hard working employees

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Your experience will vary depending on the store, but at my store I had:

    -Relatively great co-workers
    -Relatively great supervisors
-An HR department willing to work around my schedule
-A 10% discount (probably varies depending on your location)

    Cons

    -Long hours for little pay
-An unrealistic amount of work you're expected to get done
-Usually understaffed to save on payroll
-Zero work-life balance. I was called in every single time I had a day off or asked to stay for a full 8-10 hour shift when I wasn't scheduled for one without fail
-I'd often work for 10-12 days in a row with no time off in between
-Little to no benefits for hourly employees
-There's chunks of the year when you're not allowed any time off whatsoever (back to school and the holidays)
-You WILL be working on Thanksgiving, you have no choice

I have been working at Target part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Equality is stressed, including racial and LGBT. Pay scale is slightly above average for retail. Stores clean, neat and bright. The team is friendly; mean people simply are not part of Target culture. If you treat others with respect, you will succeed here.

    Cons

Lack of advancement due to change in retail landscape, (eg: rise of Amazon). Hours fluctuate more so than when I first started. My average hours have dropped from 30 to 20-25. The health benefits no longer are offered to part-time , (31 hours or less; FT is 32-40 ).

    Advice to Management

You need to appreciate long-term employees, (10 years+) more. Also, I am a Team Trainer, but there is no difference in pay. It is just a title on my name badge. A slight pay grade increase would be great.
