I worked at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Target is a great place to work. Great benefits, flexible schedules, lots of perks and great people!

    Cons

The store I worked at could never stand their ground and uphold corporate rules. That particular store only worried about getting the guest back in the store for another shopping trip regardless of what it had to do to please the guest. Right or wrong, it was all about making the guest "happy" and didn't matter what corporate rules were. Target also needs to review it's "asset protection" regulations. Not enough "power" is given to these guys (security) to do their jobs correctly.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Great co-workers
-Tiny Discount(If you use cash or a stupid freaking red card)
    -Ocassionally free food on break

    Cons

As a Target employee, your hours are drastically changed from one week to the next. I personally go from working one week 7 days with only just over 30 hours, to the next week working 5 days with almost 40 hours. This will really upset you when you see management getting their two days off a week still. There never is any consistency to the schedule and the management treats the team members as the most flexible tool they have in the store. You will get stretched thin one day and not have enough work to keep you busy the next. Get ready to also not get any benefits as well, management will keep you below the required hours when benefit enrollment time comes around. If I had other options, I would no longer work at this store. I am astounded that a multi billion dollar company that preaches acceptance and openness won't even properly take care of their employees.

    Advice to Management

    -Stop micro managing.
-Fire half of the management at the stores, most of them are just walking around not managing by example anyway.
-Treat your employees like the humans they are and stop taking such advantage of them.

    Pros

Discount, they do fun things for their team members. They recognize work anniversaries and birthdays as well as top performers

    Cons

Pay is low. More coaching on how to sell redcards could help team members achieve their goals. No benefits for part time team members

    Advice to Management

A positive attitude goes a long way

I have been working at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Target seems to have a very supportive and inclusive culture overall, which is great. The management is generally supportive and has more or less realistic expectations of what can and can't be accomplished with allotted staff in the allotted time.

    Cons

The schedule is never the regular, the hours are variable, the pay is low, so the paycheck is inconsistent. It is difficult to schedule an "outside life" when your hours and days off are never the same two weeks in a row.
