I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You were only expected to work in your area, not hop around.

    Cons

Inflexible with request for time off or approval to switch shifts. Constantly being told to sell the target red card.

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Mostly friendly co-workers
    Employee discount
    Store cleanliness

    Cons

Lots of turn-over both management & team members. Management favoritism pretty evident to everyone.
If you’re “in” with the right people you may get promoted.
    Lack of communication/training

    Advice to Management

Take a hard look & be honest about who you’re promoting.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Most people who I work with are very friendly.

    Cons

They pay is not competitive or sustainable and GSA's (managers) are paid only a dollar or so more than a cashier yet are managers. They will put you in departments you are not trained for so you either call out or can get a coaching for not doing everything properly. Random hour cuts if you don't meet red card goal (Cashier and GSA's only)

    Advice to Management

At the very least pay your managers a livable wage. When a store gets constant complaints called to corporate, do an actual surprise visit, don't tell the STL so they can prep the store in advance.

I have been working at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people who work at target are great people. The place has a lot of personalities regardless of what department you work in.

    Cons

The management sucks. Most of the high management in store (Executive Team Leads) and some of the lower management (Team Leads) are so removed from the experience of the average employee that they place unrealistic expectations on their teams and often times will be dissatisfied at things employees cant control. For example, if a job normally takes 6 people 3 hours they will get upset that the same job or even more work doesn't get done with 3 people given the same amount of time.

    Advice to Management

Don't get so upset with a job being done if resources are being taken away and while the workload is being increased

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Hours, friendly coworkers, goal oriented

    Cons

Management was always on your back, red cards were a MUST, was meant to work part time but got full time hours, customers are the worst, long days on your feet, reprimanded if your goal is not reached that week.

    Advice to Management

Give your cashiers a break with the red cards. Customers don’t want to hear it, cashiers don’t want to ask because of snappy customers. Why not practice good customer service instead of shoving a credit/ debit card in someone’s face every time they shop, it’s uncomfortable for both sides.
