I worked at Target full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you work hard, you can get really far in the company. That means that they also pile on A LOT of job responsibilities that aren't yours, or that no one else wants to do. It gives you a lot to put on your future resume if you ever wanted to leave the company. This is coming from a team leader point of view.

    Cons

Sometimes they're so short on management staff that they promote people who don't have a leader bone in their body. Very cliquey, if you personally know any of the leaders in the building your job is safe and you'll never be spoken to about your performance.

If they aren't short on management, it could be literally years before you get promoted, even to just a basic team leader. They also get mad if you work more than 40 hours a week even if they ask you to.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

many of my fellow team members were a joy to work with. I learned a lot about the different sections at target i am familiar with the stockroom, hardlines, softlines, logistics, stockroom, the front end and customer service area. There are some great benefits to working there such as medical and dental, store discounts and 401k.

    Cons

there were some not so professional team members and a lot of mismanagement. There were times when management swept many problems under the rug.

    Advice to Management

Please don't sweep problems under the rug or hand them off to others. Also take care of your team members they are a hardworking and resourceful bunch of people trying to make their way and they see more things then u might think.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Learn to work with strangers, everyday is completely different

    Cons

The guest, some of the team members you work with

    Advice to Management

The people that make new ideas for the stores should spend time in a store more

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

"It is a good stepping stone if your looking for a first time job. They hire young people and try to give you reasonable hours. They will work with your school schedule. They offer great benefits (ex. tuition reimbursement, 401k, vacation and personal pay, etc).

    Cons

Upper management felt they had all the answers and could sometimes be very petty.

    Advice to Management

Trust and back your leaders to make decisions for the good of the business. And make it easier to promote within vs. promoting someone straight out of college.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Opportunities to develop within a solid company.

10% discount on all Target merchandise and many other discounts through employee website.

    Cons

    Lack of proper coverage.

Pay isn't always fair to meet your work load.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate leaders to dictate those who only talk a good game but lack work ethic. And those who honestly drive for results by investing into the company first hand daily.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This job is very flexible with you schedule. Great job if your in school or looking for a sencind job.

    Cons

Your hours are always vary and are typically not fair. I work every single weekend. The pay sucks. You really cant have a life outside of target. I could have 35 hours one week and the next have 19.

    Advice to Management

Act like you care about your employees.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I started as a Flow team member basically just stocking but I showed interest in learning everything i could about the company and becoming more diverse in my work areas and they supported me and gave me a lot of opportunities to develop within the company. All upper level management foster a family type atmosphere and nurture to develop the potential in there team members if they express the interest and work hard to show it. I am now getting ready for my team lead interviews just a year later. And had my immediate manager not had a baby it would have probably happened sooner.

    Cons

I don't think the pay is aggressive enough and you almost never see 40 hrs unless you are backroom trained or cross train to pick up shifts in other areas of the store.
