I worked at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Moderate salary, that's about it.

    Cons

No real control of your area. Difficult to actually improve things when you don't control orders or schedules, and rarely work with your team because you are expected to help out in other areas. Every seems content with the status quo and don't feel the need to improve conditions in the store. Compliance is valued more than innovation and work ethic.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Whenever you have a good team lead and store lead, Target's a great place to work. The hours are flexible; the corporate culture is agreeable; very LGBTQIA+ friendly; the commitment to $15/hr by 2020 is commendable.

    Cons

So much of the job is tied to what your leaders allow. My first ETL was a micromanager (and we disagreed on what was really important), and I was miserable. My current ETL trusts me to do my job and allows me to do what I need to do, and my department looks better for it.

For retail it's a good place to work, but keep in mind it has the usual downsides of retail.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your sales specialists and brand owners more. We are immersed in our departments, and know more about what each area needs.
