I have been working at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule. Gives you the experience you need to get a better job. Good interaction with the team. Decent benefits.

    Cons

If you are offered a position as an HR team member, run in the opposite direction as fast as you can. Think it will be fun and easy? Wrong! Do you think you will get paid like a team lead? Haha! No. Are you thinking that you will finally be working full time! Wrong again! The reality is, you will be given an unreasonable amount of workload. You will get less hours than anyone in the store, and you will be paid the same as a cart attendant. Yes you read that right..You will also likely have to put up with TL, ETL, and the STL thinking you don’t do anything because you sit in front of a computer all day.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating your HR team members like unnecessary drains on payroll. Remember, you don’t know what you have until it’s gone! Start paying us more too!

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay is decent compared to other retail management jobs. Good for recent college grads who are single, have no kids, and want their first management job. Target goes after recent college grads because of the crazy schedule. Use it as a stepping stone and nothing more.

    Cons

Retail schedule is terrible. Weekends/ Stores open until midnight. I can't tell you how many family functions/ holidays I've missed. Stay away if you have kids, the money isn't worth that sacrifice. Good luck getting through Q4.

    Advice to Management

Focus on stability. Always moving people around to put out one fire or another.

I worked at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A majority of my coworkers are all great people, there is minimal drama between us, and our HR people are fantastic. Benefits are all extraordinary.

    Cons

Poor, unorganized management. Management often points the finger at others for their own mistakes, creates needless drama, creates a toxic work environment through passive aggressive tactics and negative attitude/outlook. Managers do not coordinate with each other which leads to confusion, all of which gets blamed on others and not management themselves.

    Advice to Management

Make more of an effort to communicate with one another. Know when to take responsibility for your mistakes instead of dumping them on others. Show you're willing to work as hard as the rest of us instead of always talking among yourselves and doing the bare minimum of work.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people in this company seem to be nice people, and easy to get along with.

    Cons

Everything is fake. You know the whole perception is everything, you literally have to fake it till you make it.

    Advice to Management

Upper management should also practice accountability and listening. You're not always right.

    Pros

Compensation is great and the company offers a real career path to grow with.

    Cons

Work life balance is hard to come by and the hours get difficult

    Advice to Management

Retention is an opportunity at all levels. Something needs to give. Improve compensation or get better at hiring more serious applicants. External hires tend to be less engaged than internal promotions.

I worked at Target (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked in electronics and they give you a lot of freedom to take care of the department. Management gives tasks and checks in, and generally lets you go at your own pace. Nice fun environment. We often had free food in the break room.

    Cons

Even though I was paid more to be in electronics they would still schedule a good amount of days on register - which is a much more boring job, and you don't get a say. Not a bad experience, but it is much less fun than working on the floor.

    Advice to Management

My managers were outstanding. I hope they're the same way at other stores.
