I worked at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, hours, team culture, free food, and opportunities at Target. I would suggest any 16 year old to apply here. It will be a much better and rewarding experience than working at some smaller business.

    Cons

    Hard to get weekends off

    Advice to Management

I would let employees move around more. Let a cashier move to the salesfloor if they really want to. Job variety is the key to keeping employees around.

I worked at Target part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Meet a lot of cool people working in retail. Flexible hours

    Cons

Disconnect from management. Unrealistic expectations. Rude customers become stressful

    Advice to Management

Communicate better with team. Try to be more understanding. I know they get a lot of orders from corporate, but they can be more understanding with their team.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Competitive wages within the retail industry.

    Cons

    No development
Target Culture treats hard working employees badly and unfairly and to impossible standards.
Lazy and underperforming employees get ignored and are never brought to attention.
Management will twist your words to make it feel like your fault when things go wrong.
Never told good job or advice on development. Only talked to when not meeting expectations which devolves into being put down in a very childish way like you are incompetent when you try to defend your business and what you are doing.

    Advice to Management

Please take the steps to ensure the same quality of management care goes into all of your stores. HR and Management that has been there for a long time has no care as to what concerns you might have and how you are being treated. They constantly try to defend themselves by making you feel like a failure at your job and there is no growth in roles, it is very difficult to learn new things when you are in the same position doing the same routine everyday for three plus years.

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A few people take pride in the job and have a strong work ethic.
The remodel on the store made it more bearable to be there.
Busy store, never a dull moment.

    Cons

Concerns and questions were ignored by management. Minimum amount of pay for twice the amount of work they wish done. Short staffed at all times, hours were inconsistent. Executive team leads prefer to order Starbucks and hide in the offices or the back room and take no leadership over their respective teams. It was only when their superiors would be there would act as if the team was a priority and showed a presence on the sales floor.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule. Gives you the experience you need to get a better job. Good interaction with the team. Decent benefits.

    Cons

If you are offered a position as an HR team member, run in the opposite direction as fast as you can. Think it will be fun and easy? Wrong! Do you think you will get paid like a team lead? Haha! No. Are you thinking that you will finally be working full time! Wrong again! The reality is, you will be given an unreasonable amount of workload. You will get less hours than anyone in the store, and you will be paid the same as a cart attendant. Yes you read that right..You will also likely have to put up with TL, ETL, and the STL thinking you don’t do anything because you sit in front of a computer all day.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating your HR team members like unnecessary drains on payroll. Remember, you don’t know what you have until it’s gone! Start paying us more too!
