I have been working at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's like a family, you get 10% off and meet amazing people and life long friends!

    Cons

Retaliation for feedback. No communication. Favoritism. No recognition

    Advice to Management

Take a real look at how the stl runs the store. 18 leaders leaving in one year should be a sign!

    Advice to Management

Higher Management should pay attention more to the lower end folks.

I have been working at Target (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits. Awesome team atmosphere. If you have a positive attitude, and talk to the right people, you can be placed anywhere you want. Great job security and stability.

    Cons

Low pay, but that's retail for you. Can get stuck in a bad department if you are not vocal about your goals with the right people. There are some bad ETLs and STLs that may have slid in through the cracks, just remember to stay in touch with the people that are willing and able to help you develop yourself.

    Advice to Management

Get to know your team members and ask them about their goals, you might be surprised at the responses that you hear.

    I worked at Target part-time

    Pros

It is a part time job you can do while going to school or whatever. The hours are usually pretty flexible and people are usually eager to swap shifts or take a shift if you can't work.

    Cons

The management is usually not quite as communicative as they can be and often times not as open to suggested improvements as they could be. It's really a lot of brainless work to get some spending cash.

    Advice to Management

Be more open to what people have to say, not everyone working there is brain dead.

I have been working at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Depending upon your location your fellow co-workers can be fun to get to know. Easy jobs.

    Cons

minimum wage for daytime workers, retail sucks in general. Management sucks, Human Resources is ran by all women that are lazy and incompetent. Target hires illegal immigrants.

    Advice to Management

An average Target store generates on average 35 million per year in profit. Pay your employees above minimum wage. Stop hiring illegals and corporate needs to stop treating the management like they're worthless slaves.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Able to Supervise and train individuals to help maximize guest retention and customer service. Some duties included Overseeing department administrative work including scheduling, inventory, and personnel. Target's Fast, Fun, and Friendly culture is very fun making work more enjoyable.

    Cons

Tasks are often delegated from upper management leaving little to no time to complete. Departments are often understaffed leaving little to no time to complete other tasks. Team leaders have close one night per week working until 11:30 pm. Also, team leaders have to work every other weekend.

    Advice to Management

Create a better weekend rotation plan so team leaders don't have to work every other weekend. Also, create a culture where team leaders can challenge upper level management

I worked at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

All the hourly workers are dedicated, and work hard at what they do. Team members want to show that they can do more.

    Cons

Lots of micro, sorry performance managing from managers. Hourly workers are treated as disposable assets. Also salary is low and raises only happen once a year.

    Advice to Management

Move more people up from within the company.

    Pros

Relatively easy to get hired without having to have education or some special skills. You work under a roof so the job is relatively clean and safe.

    Cons

Low compensation, most people are working part-time without good benefits, high turnover rate, schedule changes from week to week, you are treated as though you are some disposable trash (and if you are a floor associate at Target, you are!)

    Advice to Management

I know you get a lot of applicants in this horribly performing, trashy economy, but try to reduce the turnover rate and hire people long term (even floor associates!). Also, give them good benefits (even part-timers), will you?
