I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people that were hired that work with me are very amusing to work with. They make the job fun and the company is also very lenient with kids going to school while working. I was easily allowed to take a leave of absence to attend school in Flagstaff and I was also given the option to easily transfer to a Target closer to my school.

    Cons

The head of HR does not follow hour requests and taking time off can sometimes be very difficult because so little people work in my department at the store.

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

HR was super nice and accommodating and the training was very thorough.

    Cons

Certain LOD's are TERRIBLE and those long weekend shifts are killer.

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Team Member discount, good hours if you have the availability

    Cons

Red Cards are more important than employees, won't cross-train you

    Advice to Management

I know corporate wants everyone to push Red Cards, but somebody has to realize that the credit cards aren't everything. You're losing valuable employees who are willing to dedicate themselves to the company over something like this. It would be more beneficial to you if you had a mix of employees who can deliver on the Red Card quotas and employees who can provide other strengths, such as faster checkout or more accurate guest assistance.

I have been working at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is a very easy job. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I can pick the hours I want to work.

    Cons

Dealing with the public and working retail hours. Some pressure to get Red cards and they are hard to get

    Advice to Management

Don't under utilize your employees. Get to know them to see what they are good at and what they want to do.

    - Lead large teams

    Cons

    Pros

10% Discount, Flexible hours, the people you work with are nice enough, gives you a good handle on what its like to work in a retail position.

    Cons

Not an acceptable pay for the amount of work you are doing. Its easy to fall into the cracks if your new and they miss doing your reviews (pay adjustments) until later than everyone else. Personally Ive crossed trained to every area of the store, and for each specialty (fitting room, electronics, grocery, guest services) its generally a 25 cent raise but Im only 14 cents above the base pay

    Advice to Management

Take the time to review your team members and pay them accurately.
