I have been working at Target for more than a year

    Pros

Very team focused. Flexible hours and breaks included. Opportunities for team member advancement if interested. Good benefits and yearly bonuses/raises based on meeting store goals

    Cons

Pharmacy just got bought by CVS Corporation. Changes to current policies are yet to be determined. Interview and yearly review process is extensive and somewhat tedious.

    I worked at Target

    Pros

They have good employee benefits, and they have room for you to get promoted. Also, never have to worry about layoffs.

    Cons

It is easy to move up inside the company for a few positions, but unless you have a college degree you too off fairly early.

"Executive management is mediocre at best and expectations tend to be unrealistic of sales floor staff."

I worked at Target full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Not a bad gig if you are a student or just looking for seasonal or part-time work.

    Cons

Upper management was lazy and focused more on playing the latest game on their iPhone's than giving a helping hand to sales floor staff - the ones that are actually running the store. Corporate likes to slash payroll hours leaving very few associates to help guest, put away a constant flow of merchandise being pushed out the back, amongst an array of other responsibilities. Typically the registers are staffed well, but mainly due to sales floor staff having to leave their current job duties to come to the registers and check customers (or as Target refers GUEST) out. Plus like most retail if you are trying to feed a family you will not be making a living wage and will be lucky to get 30 hours at best each week.

    I worked at Target

    Pros

The overall leaders of the store are good people, they reward top performers with consistent hours and fringe benefits such as food, ice cream etc. Lots of recognition in meetings. Very good store GM who is well respected within the company. Pay is good for the area.

    Cons

As a store, they are experts at passing the buck. If 7 people fail to show up, you still must reach goal times no matter what. Upper management will sit in the clerical area barking orders and surfing the web rather than help you. When the day shift comes and the team is behind, it's all on you as a TL. I'd say 55% of the crew do not deserve their checks every 2 weeks and some slackers are protected by upper management ie they ask you not to write them up or to give them another chance. When bigger fish ask why there are slackers around, your immediate supervisor will say its because you didn't write them up. If you call out slackers consistently and follow up with them, they are prone to banding together and telling a collective story about you to HR, which in my case was Jerry Springer style fiction. At peer level, there was much withholding of crucial info when I was new because they knew if I was given all proper info I would decimate their chances of promotion in the short term. Employees at every level put on a face when approached by someone who outranks them, when that person leaves, its back to slacking, blaming, complaining, gossiping, etc. All around poor work environment at night.
