I have been working at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I think that the title is enjoyable and satisfying and has many opportunities for moving higher into management.

    Cons

Hours include weekends and late nights at times. This makes weekend plans close to impossible.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The team, benefits, fun environment. Pay is ok compared to similar company's

    Cons

Retail schedule. No work life balance. Popularity game. Don't plan on taking time off

    Advice to Management

Get your hands dirty more often to get the buy in of the team.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible with schedule if attending school, some great people to work with, ability to work with CCTV also placed/moved cameras to ideal locations, arresting shop lifters, getting to work with outside agency from time to time to solve investigations

    Cons

Pay was low for the job they required, turned Assets Protection to a uniformed door greeter instead of trying to protect assets, Hours were all over the place, mandatory to work holidays regardless of religious beliefs, no growth unless you had a college degree, constantly watched by investigation head quarters.

    Advice to Management

Do not hold the truth from your employees regarding their way to advance inside Target, be honest and don't raise their hopes just to let them down in the end. Stop micro managing everyone, allow the employees some freedom and in the end you might need not watch them constantly.

I worked at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

What the title says, if you want to build good security experience you can start here. You’ll get plenty of security-related action

    Cons

Everything else, management sucks, company policy sucks, the pay sucks, the hours and schedule sucks, but then again it’s an entry level job and it’s retail so what can you expect

I worked at Target full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Decent pay, getting a lot of new technology to help both guests and employees. Always providing food and doing events.

    Cons

It takes a while to get to a livable pay. Raises are once a year and are usually between $0.08 to $0.30 per hour. Stores are usually pretty understaffed. Getting hired as full time doesn’t guarantee you 40 hours every week. Terrible health insurance. No health insurance for part time employees under a certain amount of hours.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring people that are too young into management roles that can’t perform their duties. Most of them are straight out of college and come in not knowing anything.

I worked at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Company culture was amazing and you make great connections. Some departments fostered growth and gave you the opportunity to reach out to anyone who you felt would be a great mentor to you in the company.

    Cons

People who have been at the company for 10+ years were way too comfortable with their roles and felt like they could do no wrong, so they treated people that just came into the company not so nice.

    Advice to Management

    Train your managers!!!!

I have been working at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Flexible schedule
    Decent pay
    Make some great connections

    Cons

Guest tend to walk all over you
Feels like a high school with drama
    Lack of hours/staffing

    Advice to Management

Try to not get caught up on the drama and focus on what the store needs. Focus more on what works best between the team members and the Target guests rather than just jump to conclusions. Also, writing someone up for not saying 'hello' to EVERY SINGLE GUEST is a pathetic way to drive the vibe.
