I have been working at Target full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Made some amazing friends. You truly do become a part of a family. It's a highly stimulation work pace--there is always something to be done. There's a really great opportunity for internal growth.

    Cons

As with any company where you work with other people--it can be challenging when other's do not do their own work. It's heavily team based so if one person/team is slacking it falls on another individual/team to recover. Can be "clicky."

    Advice to Management

Former team member and also for former management here: my advice to anyone--do not be afraid to get your hands dirty. Redirecting tasks to team members can be a useful method to get workload done. But don't be afraid to help them. Often times team members get frustrated with leadership for "never working," just assigning tasks. Jump in and help out--get to know your team. It makes a world of difference.

I worked at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-The pay is really good, starting at $12 and working its way up
-The co-workers overall are some really great people
-Positive work environment for the most part. The only exception is when it gets busy and people get stressed
    -Clean environment and well-organized
-They work very well with school and other work schedules

    Cons

-Corporate, corporate, corporate. Seriously. Some of their decisions are stupid and make the job so much more difficult than it really needs to be. It's like half of them haven't even stepped foot in a store.
-The only time you can get guaranteed hours is during the holiday season, otherwise it's a total toss-up. Sometimes you get 40 hours, sometimes you get 15
-The customers are seriously the worst. Honestly. They can be absolutely awful to you, straight to your face, just like any other retail position.
-There is a LOT of favoritism in the HR department... Not naming names, but sometimes they don't listen to a problem you are having if you aren't a favorite. Especially when it's about one of their favorites.
-Sometimes, the leaders are way too soft on some situations. Example: a girl said the n word, but still somehow didn't get fired. One of the bosses called a girl the b word just for calling off due to an emergency. (She's also been known to be extremely rude and harsh to other team members, saying things that make it miraculous that she somehow still works there.) She's been known to make fun of other team members behind their backs, criticize work ethic in a rude, harsh way, and be, overall, an awful boss.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be stricter policies when it comes to the mistreatment of other team members. Sometimes things are said in jest, but sometimes they're outright rude and bullying. There's far too much favoritism, and there is much room to improve when it comes to the leadership. The store team lead is amazing, along with a lot of other LODs, but allowing people to bully others is unacceptable.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Met a lot of good colleagues who I now consider to be closer than family. Certain managers really took the time to actually care about me.

    Cons

Taken for granted, Easily replaceable, If you get to good at your job there's no chance of moving up the ladder especially if you're a cart attendant, HR wasn't willing to help accommodate to me with my class schedules

    Advice to Management

Allow more opportunities for your employees to review and if need be criticize those who seem to abuse their authority. I never felt comfortable enough to actually stand up and finally feel like I had a sense of self worth as an employee.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They work around your availability. Great work for college and high school students. If you are grown and looking for a career this is not the place

    Cons

They have no respect for their team members. All ETLs stick together. No open door policy. You business gets spread around the whole store. They don't promote either. If you decide to call corporate about any issue, they will retaliate against you

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees
