I worked at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I loved interacting with guests on the phone, I learned how to transfer calls and maintain a call board with multiple calls at a time, multitask more quickly, I had responsibilities such as signing in and out equipment, taking messages and calls for HR and management, using walkie talkies to retrieve and put items on hold for guests.

    Cons

Management was unprofessional and made it difficult to stay.

I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The people you work with
    Good hours
    Helping people feels good

    Cons

You're just a number to them
They try to shame you for calling out when you're sick
If you work in cashier you'll be stuck there forever
    Barely any employee discount
You don't get bonuses or commission from making sales or getting people to sign up for red cards
    The matts are so uncomfortable
You can't leave a shift early unless you feel like you're dying

    Advice to Management

Give people who are eager to learn a chance to do more
The amount of time theft done by some employees isn't even addressed

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay is great for the work done.
The work ethic is fairly laid back, nothing too work intensive.

    Cons

The environment felt very serious and strict.
    Management feels machine-like and uncaring.

    Advice to Management

Open yourselves up to employees more, there is a noticeable disconnect between the management and employees.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible, Part-Time, easy to learn, usually accommodates for your availability (typically need at least one or two days full availability, specifically on a weekend)

    Cons

Sometimes cuts hours without telling you and HR sometimes doesn't review time-off requests until just before they have to submit the official schedule for the week of the time-off request

I have been working at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Self-motivation will help you reach goals. If you set your mind to do more than asked and really strive for perfection you can go far.

    Cons

Lack of Communication is a big issue at many targets. It has a lot of hierarchy issues. Many people feel under-appreciated, stepped on, and worthless.

    Advice to Management

Never take advantage of your peers

I worked at Target (Less than a year)

    Pros

Worked the overnight shift, so supervision was relatively minimal. The ability to plug in the headphones and bust out the work is huge, especially when all you're doing is stocking shelves. There was almost always extra hours available.

    Cons

The overnight flow team is frequently understaffed, meaning those that show up are forced to do sometimes triple the workload. Leads and ETL's are too busy filling in on the floor to supervise properly, which means the less-efficient team members have free reign to work slowly and extend their shifts as far as possible, leaving those of us with a decent work ethic to pick up the slack. Management refused to consider schedule changes, especially for the better team members, and flat-out lied to those team members to cover their unwillingness to allow the team member to work a more beneficial schedule.

    Advice to Management

Allow team members to structure their schedules better, and allow leads to actually supervise and do their jobs.
