I have been working at Target part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    •You make $10.16 an hour.

•10% Discount is "okay"(You don't pay taxes on merchandise).

•You get an additional 20% off on fresh fruits and vegetables as well as active wear.

•Benefits are decent "IF" you can get them.

•Most coworkers and customers are/were very pleasant.

Target isn't a bad place to work at least as a first job. But the Target I got stuck working at is a joke and I will be looking for a new evening job. The amount of grief this particular target puts you through on a daily basis isn't worth the $1.16 above minimum wage (at least not in NY). Would give 0 stars if it was an option but unfortunately it isn't.

    Cons

    •Poor work/life balance.

    •Very toxic work environment.

•Little to no room for growth.

•Management is very selfish and unprofessional.

•Extemely high turnover rate even for a retail job.

•Requesting time off/availability changes is an uphill struggle. (You have to stalk management and stand over their shoulder to make sure it gets done).

•Mandatory to work thanksgiving and black Friday or you get fired.

    •Lots of favoritism in workplace.

•Store is poorly managed and is constantly a mess.

•Target cuts hours to keep new employees just below the needed amount to get meaningful benefits.

•regularly hires new people when long time employees are starved for hours.

    •Many disgruntled coworkers.

•People in HR fool around too much which can sometimes result in a missing paycheck.

    Advice to Management

Be more considerate of your team members as we are the backbone of the store and are overworked and get little to no thanks for the amount of work that we do. Also the overall management of the store especially softlines(clothes) is terrible and it makes our jobs so much harder and stressful than they should be.

    Pros

Ability to take on other shifts as long as 40 hours was max per week, freebies in back room sometimes, somewhat flexible in changing hours/shifts

    Cons

Unrealistic expectations from supervisors, low morale, computer cashier rating system should be abolished because they get marked negatively if a lot of bagging is necessary or if customer takes long to pay

    Advice to Management

Stop pushing REDCards, if people do not want them, employees should not be penalized

    Advice to Management

    Grow up.
