I worked at Target full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good environment to work with other people and collaborate on everything.

    Cons

Thrived on feedback...good or bad, they wanted you to give it and receive it. It got to be so much that everything people did would be an opportunity to provide feedback. Very political company, you'd need to do get to know you' all the time and meet with the right people or it would hinder your workload, projects, and promotions. Basically...drink the kool aid or don't move around.

I have been working at Target full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I enjoyed with the great people, high-profile company, interesting projects. Very clean work environment and facilities. Great training and education programs.

    Cons

Leadership changes have created a negative working environment in the past 5 years. Promotions are based on who you know rather than your work. Leaders of technical groups often have no technical experience but don't trust the experts to make decisions.

    Advice to Management

You hire fantastic people with great experience and you pay them well. Please let them make decisions based on that experience! Remove roadblocks to getting decisions made. Emphasize work completed over style and networking skills. Don't move people in and out of positions so quickly!

I have been working at Target full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Opportunity to gain a lot of broad experience with many sections of the company Access to great resources in your work - mobile tools, subject matter experts, quality vendors, additional education Hard working and honest co-workers

    Cons

Work life balance- if your accessible digitally in some format, many co-workers expect you to respond or reply at any time Career advancement- you gain opportunity's only to the level that your leadership allows or provides for you Management- some groups have great, engaging leaders. Other groups really need to clean house.

    Advice to Management

Become better at aligning your teams to the business needs that support your 1-3 year objectives. Too many groups and departments are built around business models from 2000. This creates a barrier to adapting fast to market needs as well as underutilizing your current team member resources.
