I have been working at Taro full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

No real pros, except brand generic concept is good if covered. If you had a great manger which I did then it was good, every reason to stay if you had a great manager

    Cons

Management is a revolving door. No objectives EVER given. Bonus changes...they use Chinese math. No weekly or up do date rankings. Don't listen to field reps. Last product launch was a dud.
Things would change on a dime from day to day or week to week or every month. Small fly by the seat of your pants pharma. Small managed care dept only 1-2 persons for the entire Nation....not good.

    Advice to Management

Be consistent. Listen to your Field Reps...THEY know what's going on. BE competitive with the competition. Put more products in the Rep's bag. The brand generic works better. Get more people in managed care to get products on formulary FASTER

I worked at Taro full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Excellent topical products reputation and great unrealized potential.

    Cons

No real idea nor apparent interest in how U.S. payer driven brand market in U.S. works, as compared to India and other markets. Hire and promote those who only believe what they do and focus primarily on cost control.

    Advice to Management

Wake up and listen to U.S. market payers, not just Dermatology providers who are not actually paying for products, if you want long term success. U.S. market is not India.

    Pros

Some nice people to work with , work is not overwhelming. Everyone is pretty friendly and welcoming .

    Cons

A lot of brown nosing going on. Only certain people get special treatment or even recognized for their work. If you are not a Man , you will not get ahead. Upper management is not very
Friendly or welcoming . Too much gossiping.

    Advice to Management

Be equal with everyone and with every department. Have some incentives for your employees and some recognition . Promote current employees to open positions.
Show appreciation for your hard working employees not just the ones that brown nose.

    Pros

Interesting, challenging work; many co-workers/colleagues are supportive, smart, helpful. Salaries are competitive (generally higher than industry average.

    Cons

Technologically behind (manual processes for many tasks). Long hours, lots of overtime, no management support, no appreciation, Little opportunity for internal advancement. Culture of fear, blame, shame, self-protectionism.

    Advice to Management

Get in the trenches and see what's really happening. Start paying attention to how the work is getting done (dirty politics, bullying), and restore a focussed professional culture.
