I worked at Tarocash full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fantastic commissions and a really great training ground to build a professional sales profile. You will find those happy and regular customers make the job most rewarding.

    Cons

Unrealistic merchandising task time frames during large change overs makes for a stressful environment, although this doesn't occur frequently. It seems that the company would rather promote externally as opposed to internally.

    Advice to Management

If you look after your internal customers, they will look after your external customers.

I have been working at Tarocash full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The training you receive at Tarocash is the best in the retail industry. There is room for advancement and a large focus on taking ownership of your own success. The culture is supportive and fun, even during the difficult times.

    Cons

The expectations of visual merchandising campaigns are too high. Working employees to the bone for a whole day every seasonal change is inappropriate and should be reevaluated.

    Advice to Management

2 for 1 promotions work better than the 30% off promotions... the psychology behind buying two polo's for $85 is better than 30% off one for $42 down from $70... people will believe they are saving more from $120 down to $85...

I worked at Tarocash for more than a year

    Pros

Most of the staff are nice and we had lots of laughs. Stores are easy to upkeep and are clean. Good discounts. Nice customers.

    Cons

    - Horrible culture - lots of gossip, backstabbing and no support from management - Extremely high expectations - every shift you are judged on KPIs. This makes every employee highly competitive with one and other. Some employees go out of their way to steal sales from others just so they make their budget and commission . This leads to a lot of tension and confrontation. - Unrealistic sales targets - Asked to... sacrifice days at university in order to cover 3 hour shifts - Forced to ring around and find someone to cover your shift if you called in sick or tell them a week in advance you wont be able to work that day. If you don't find a cover they force you to work. - High staff turnover - I saw a lot of people that weren't directly fired, but rather management simply just stopped giving them shifts with no explanation. I've also seen a few people crack and rage quit half way through their shifts. - Too much pressure and stress for what the job is - management don't realize not every employee wants to live and breath the brand for the rest of their lives. - Favouritism

I worked at Tarocash full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Commission can be really good. Some great people, some not so great. Half of upper management are amazing people. Discounts are very generous. A lot of loyal team members who work hard for this company

    Cons

A lot of pressure and stress. Budgets often unachievable which results in bad pay. They love you when your up but miss budget a few weeks and your hard works forgotten. Can be bullying and inappropriate conversations had - more personal rather then professional. Have seen many cases of favouritism.

    Advice to Management

Understand that the team really does drive sales as much as possible, but sometimes the budgets seem greedy. If it isn’t realistic you demotivate your team.

I worked at Tarocash full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Recruited amazing team who could handle the culture , pay / commission structure excellent so hard work put into the business rewarded in pay

    Cons

HR and people management is not the priority of head office so poor direction and behaviours from top level management in regards to people issues and management. Like to foster a culture of fear if not making sales targets so not for the feint hearted

    Advice to Management

Focus on people. Update top level attitudes to embrace all team regardless of gender and understand that old school management styles don't have a place in today's retail environment
