I have been working at Tate & Lyle

    Pros

Several great people to work with.Used to take great pride in saying I worked for Tate & Lyle! Pay is good.Decent benefits but get less every year.

    Cons

They pride themselves on their so called values. This used to be true but it has gotten so top heavy, constant meetings all day long with managers but no decisions ever made and very poor or no planing from small to very large projects. They say that safety is #1 however their safety is ruled by fear so many people do not report it if they atre injured and will suffer through their shift if they can to get medical... attention. If you do report a safety issue, you will be retaliated against. All that matters is how the "books" look for each quarter.Commen sense and real safety do not really come in to play.Managment is made up of Engineers that know nothing when it comes to any kind of management.Has really gone downhill and is a scary placeto work.

I have been working at Tate & Lyle

    Pros

The company allows movement to learn new areas and develop new skills. The hours are set to around 50 hours per week and there is not a lot of nights and weekends. The operators and engineers are great people to work with

    Cons

No upward movement in the company, no good clearcut plan to develop engineers into senior engineers. A lot of firefighing on day-to-day operations. Bad organization of projects.

    Advice to Management

there needs to be more development for engineers in the path they choose, not just production and management, but projects and process improvements.
