I have been working at Taubman full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There's no real way to give you a concise list of attributes to working for the Taubman Company. But I will say that the culture is everything! There's a reason it's consistently voted one of the best places to work in the greater Detroit area.

    Cons

Any real complaints would likely come from someone much higher up on the food chain than me.

I worked at Taubman full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Work/life balance is highly valued way beyond lip-service. Teamwork is expected, protected, and lauded. There are always ears open to suggestions and concerns.

    Cons

There is not really much room for advancement and many great people leave the company for just that reason. Sometimes the home office really has no idea what is happening at the centers.

    I worked at Taubman full-time

    Pros

The maintenance staff was great to work side by side. Company vehicle, company tools, uniforms, you maintenance techs. know the norm.

    Cons

Micro managing without referencing the maintenance team for the preferred plan of action.

    Advice to Management

support your maintenance team, they're just as valuable as you are, without them you will not have a job.

    Pros

Pay and benefits. Company culture. Awesome people.

    Cons

Layoffs every 4 years. Difficult to move up.

I have been working at Taubman full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Taubman has a values driven culture and the employees at all levels are passionate about the company. Leadership is driving positive change with streamlined processes and more trust and empowerment at lower levels in the company. Employees are getting involved in solving some of the business challenges and its energizing. Compensation is more than fair and the benefits are better than what most companies offer. The...

    Cons

Taubman is in the retail real estate industry which is currently under some pressure. In response to the challenges, the company had to reduce the size of its staff last year. We had to say goodbye to some really talented colleagues. Another con is that employees stay a long time - which can be good, but that, along with the smaller size of the company makes it hard for employees to grow swiftly up the ranks. ...

    Advice to Management

The company is small enough now for everyone to know everyone. Senior leaders need to be more visible and mingle and connect more with employees at all levels of the company.

I worked at Taubman full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Large enough company to have a lot of clout in the retail industry yet small enough that you can meet with Senior Management at a moments notice.

    Cons

None. I thoroughly enjoyed working at The Taubman Company.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!

    I worked at Taubman full-time

    Pros

The pros were getting to work with extremely talented industry professionals and fabulous benefits (since they have changed).

    Cons

The cons include poor & deceitful department leadership who demoralize employees, treat unfairly, & set unrealistic goals (due to countless deal restraints) so commission rarely gets rewarded. Dept. Leadership allows some Agents to do certain things where others would on a performance plan or be terminated. The department is ruled by fear and if one speaks up, there will be definite retaliation, a target on your...

    Advice to Management

There’s been years of countless employees communicating to HR on how to improve the department with no results. Until there is new leadership in place, things will never change.

I worked at Taubman full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Excellent portfolio of retail centers. Strong operational leadership. Company actions aligned with stated values. Competitive benefits package.

    Cons

Company was slow to evolve practices in a rapidly changing world. This was particularly evident in adoption of IT, digital technologies which sometimes left us out of sync with tenants and customers and opportunities were missed in connective experience that could be offered to customers and the advertising opportunities that could be offered to tenants and other in-center sponsors.

    Pros

The organization carries a high level of integrity.

    Cons

Not a lot of internal movement or promotion as employees tend to excel and remain at current positions, so turnover is relatively low.

    Advice to Management

    Keep the momentum.
