I worked at Teach for America full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great network of teachers and resources, placement in a high needs school, and continuous training throughout your two-year tenure.

    Cons

It's really hard work both emotionally and physically, you have very limited resources, and your working against a broken system.

I worked at Teach for America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - I must have seemed decently proficiently at teaching, because I was only visited by TFA staff about 3 times over the course of two years. This was a lot laxer than other peoples' experience, where they were constantly getting visits.
    - I met a lot of really interesting, smart, and talented corps members. Anyone willing to do all that teachers do right out of the gates (for most people at least) are bound to be extra scrappy and resourceful.

    Cons

Not enough coaching from veteran teachers. Even during the summer training, most of our "coaches" were fairly green teachers just in it to get work over the summer.

    Advice to Management

Hire some veteran teachers! Even 5+ years of teaching would be great.

    Pros

Company is supportive. They promote diversity. Encourage professional growth. Over all it is a difficult job, but worth it in the long run because of the kids.

    Cons

Very time consuming. Teach for America doesn't pay you (your school district does) but expects you to spend multiple hours a week completing work that often seems pointless. But they will tell you they are not there to burden you but ONLY support you, which is a lie.

    Advice to Management

My advice would be to give more useful professional development and stop piling on the workload, but instead try to actually support the teachers in the organization.
