I worked at Teachers Federal Credit Union part-time

    Pros

Staff is friendly, management cares about their employees, and it overall, a great work environment.

    Cons

Benefits (like PTO) for part-time employees could use some improvement and dress code was outdated

I have been working at Teachers Federal Credit Union full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Multiple locations, may get a home-branch close to home, if I had to pick something at all.

    Cons

Literally everything else. This is the single worst place I have ever worked. They take advantage of their employees and do NOT promote from within. They routinely lie to staff regarding goals, and refuse to take ANY advice, critique, constrictive criticism or suggestions (no matter how simple, nice, or benign) from staff. If I could rate zero, I would. It was one of the worst decisions of my life to work for this company, and I urge anyone looking at this to RUN to a different job choice. Hostile work environment doesn't even begin to cover it.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. A teller may seem below you in all possible ways in your eyes, but that doesn't mean they have nothing to offer. Stop blaming the lower level staff for every mishap in the company. If employees at one branch leave sooner than you can hire them, perhaps it's not the fault of the employees your hiring every time, and look at yourselves first. The CEO has personally acted with great vindication towards many lower leveled employees for almost no reasoning, and he REFUSES to listen to anyone on any topic besides himself. Egomaniac.

    Pay attention to staff

I worked at Teachers Federal Credit Union full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice coworkers (for the most part) vacation time, off for a lot of holidays that you otherwise wouldn't be. The hours aren't that terrible either

    Cons

constantly nagged to sell products. It's almost like they didn't care if you did anything accurate as long as you got a sale. Favoritism is huge here as well so if you're not liked well that sucks for you.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing favorites. Stop nagging to cross sale BENEFITS PLUS!!!! Only so the branch managers can get their nice fat bonus. Ridiculous

I have been working at Teachers Federal Credit Union full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Stable work; good benefits. Work with very nice people.

    Cons

Moral is very low because the pay is very low for Long Island. Many of us work one, or two extra jobs just to make ends meet. There is not enough time to spend with my family when I'm working nights and weekends.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees! We work hard while some management do nothing but talk for hours! You have lost and will lose more good employees to other institutions because you ignore the people that make the credit union work.

    Pros

Very friendly managers and co-workers , hours were 9-5, some days were busy others were rather slow. Good environment for interns

    Cons

You do not have an assigned desk, everyday you alternate desks with the other employees. Very boring at times, it is like working at the DMV.

    Advice to Management

Have music playing , redecorate offices and branches most customers complained about the way the inside of the branch looked

    Pros

    Great co-workers
Part-time schedules are flexible with school
Paid training to prepare you for branch
    Promotes from within
    Good pay for part-time position

    Cons

Management can play favorites when it comes to promotions
Limited room for growth, depending on career path

    Advice to Management

Be open to change and employee suggestions.

    Pros

Benefits as a full timer only. Good amount of vacation one is given to employees. The trainers in hauppauge are extremely helpful.

    Cons

Not many benefits given to part time employees. Favoritism is shown throughout the branch. Not much room for advancement throughout the company...

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees a bit more. You're head/senior tellers may want to learn how to actually be a supervisor and act like they want to help their teller line out.
