I have been working at Teaching Personnel part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Staff are really friendly and engaging

    Cons

If you have other commitments during the week you have to settle for working as and when they call you. Meaning you only get paid your salary as and when you work, so if they don’t call that week there’s no opportunities for you to further your experience or earn money. So it’s good to join other agencies

I have been working at Teaching Personnel full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They find you work pretty easily if your early enough in the summer they can find you full-time placements. Their staff are incredibly friendly and offer lots of support throughout the whole process of finding work. They will call you after the first days and first weeks at schools to find out what you think about your placement and aim to fix any issues you may be having at your school

    Cons

Sometimes there can be miscommunication and you find yourself working in a different department to what you were told, this has only happened twice

I worked at Teaching Personnel full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good stepping stone to get into recruitment. Good initial training Good salaries and bonus scheme

    Cons

Poor/belittling management No respect for staff No “on the job” support Very long hours Little no to appreciation Concerned too much about quantity rather than quality of service Over 48% staff turnover in one year alone Patronising managers Do not care about staff wellbeing Manager doesn’t understand how to get the best from their staff, try supporting rather than using scare tactics

    Advice to Management

Appreciate that everyone is not replaceable as you are so often told by management Train branch managers to treat employees with respect rather than belittling and bullying them Have trust in your staff Work with employees to develop them, rather than threaten performance management at the first opportunity

I have been working at Teaching Personnel part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The positive aspect of teaching personnel is that you can pick and choose dates you wish to work, however you should communicate with your handler and give enough notice

    Cons

The salary isnt great. They say you get around maybe £9 an hour but its a day rate you’re paid. Depending on the school and how many breaks you get will mean that you probably work for around £7 an hour
