I have been working at Team San Jose part-time

    Pros

Very Flexible Schedule, currently a student and I can't take a large amount time off if necessary.

    Cons

Although San Jose is a busy place with several events, there are sometimes where there is nothing happening. Meaning that the job isn't guaranteed every week.

    Advice to Management

Nothing really, it is a good company and the perks were nice.

    Pros

    Great Health Benefits.
    Good time off plan

    Cons

Not progressive at all, the department has had the same senior staff for a decade, and they do minimal work possible.
Very focused on staying on the unions good side that they are creating a hostile work environment for management staff of other departments. HR will not discipline employee that have a record of filing grievances, as this creates more work for HR. Instead they will ignore the issue and continue to staff poor employees.

I have been working at Team San Jose full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Always something new and challenging. Great place for someone who likes working in a complex environment and likes to be challenged. Lots of opportunities to take on initiatives and make a difference, lots of freedom to manage workload/responsibilities. Flexible work schedule and benefits are great.

    Cons

As a non-profit, resources can be a bit limited.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Team San Jose full-time

    Pros

Benefits are very good and while extremely rare, there are still a few key individuals at the company who are really good people

    Cons

Salaries aren't the best and the senior management here is a complete mess. It is extremely political, corrupt, and many employees are genuinely terrified of the upper management. There is also a lot of unnecessary drama happening on a weekly basis in the workplace - HR basically does nothing. Also, very hard to advance here.

    Advice to Management

The company needs to review and do a major clean up of the executive team.

A great place to work. A very positive environment and awesome culture. They have great benefits which include 401K, medical, dental, vision and PTO ! They really foster employee growth and development.

    Cons

None thus far . Since I started I see that management welcomes open communication.

"management is always restructuring - high staff turnover"

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Team San Jose full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Sometimes, you get complimentary tickets to theaters and shows at the Convention Center and other cultural facilities that they manage. (They used to offer a generous amount of tickets but restructuring the company have restricted many perks.) Location is great - accessible to downtown eateries. The employer covers monthly parking cost which many companies in downtown don't.

    Cons

Unless you're "friends" with or kissing up to upper management, your head will be in the chopping block no matter how hard you work. Lots of micro management because they do not have faith in staff's integrity. There is no work/life balance. Many people there will throw you in the bus and back stab you just so they can look good. The lazy and incompetent employees are still around because they are conniving and fake so they can look like a star while all the genuine dedicated employees left the company. DO NOT TRUST ANYONE!

    Advice to Management

This is a hospitality company, go hire people who fit in that category. There are a lot of staff including management that are NOT hospitable. They are NOT approachable and do NOT care about staff/customers. Hire directors/managers who actually know how to manage/genuinely care about their staff - not treat staff like a robot. Learn to care more about staff and focus less on politics to reduce high staff turnover. Good employees are not those that work the longest hours in the office - good employees are those that will get the work done. There are only a very few good employees left there so I hope you hold onto those.
