I worked at Teavana full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Smells great inside, you get a lot of training and product knowledge, 30% discount and discount at Starbucks, the more sales = more hours, great sales = great rewards : free ounces of tea, seasonal gifts from the company. Lots of hours. I love tea and learned so much from this job. There's a whole world to loose leaf you didn't know about!

    Cons

Pushy sales, repetitive dialogue, confused and rude customers, not flexible or considerate of holiday season. Sample cart was not fun, because people would stampede over, and sometimes other employees would steal your sales.

    Advice to Management

    Stop stealing sales

    Pros

Employee Discount, free beverages, there really isn't anything else its a shame glassdoor makes me write 20 words

    Cons

Deceptive sales techniques, impossible to achieve bonus structure, competition for sales between employees, I witnessed very little and slow career growth for my superiors, overpriced tea, low pay for the high responsibility

    Advice to Management

stop playing clear favorites. it hurts the morale of the store

    Pros

You get free tea during your shift.

    Cons

They push you extremely hard to stick to the script for selling tea. If you don't overfil a customers bag with a pound of tea even after they ask for 2 ounces they get upset.

    Advice to Management

Be less pushy and more flexible with your employees.

    Pros

free tea all day, decent discount throughout the store, fun people to work with

    Cons

pay wasn't great, general managers have contradicting ways to sell, you have to be pushy with all your sales or you get in trouble

    Advice to Management

be less pushy with sales because that lead to a lot of angry customers and within the 8 months of working there everyone who was there when i started had left do to issues with how sales are done at the store

I worked at Teavana part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Relaxed uniform policy, 30% discounts on everything in Teavana and Starbucks (as it is a Starbucks company), and the product really is great. Also, even as a part-time worker, I got shares from Starbucks - did not get any healthcare benefits or performance reviews during my 9 months there, though.

    Cons

It's not quite commissioned work, but you do get "bonuses" based upon selling a certain amount. Depending on your coworkers/ management and how they choose to interpret the "sales process," you can be placed at a disadvantage (because you're never stationed at the sales counter, for example).

    Advice to Management

Encourage integrity among workers; maybe revamp the way the sales process works at some locations - not sure if other Teavana's "zoned" the way ours did.

I worked at Teavana part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was a fun environment for the most part. Delicious tea, and co-workers were nice.

    Cons

Standing outside out the store to try and get people to sample tea. Ridiculous prices that you had to advertise as good deals. We changed managers three times during the two years I worked there.

    Advice to Management

Try to be more consistent. Reevaluate the tea sampling strategy.

I worked at Teavana part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Brisk, fast environment. Great smelling. Alright hours.

    Cons

Too competitive, and the weekend rotation circuit doesn't work. Also, prepare not to make more than your managers, or they'll start stealing your customers. You're constantly fighting over customers to get your personal numbers up. Also, they claim a lot of health benefits when 90% of the fruit in any tea is candied, not dried.

    Advice to Management

Make it less competitive. Stop stealing your employees' customers.
