    Excellent work/family balance

    Cons

    Not always in product development mode, some breaks in between
    Do not have a dedicated sustaining group, R&D gets gobbled up for fire fighting
    Somewhat short staffed most of the time

    Advice to Management

    Manage less, and lead more. Leadership is the key to success; a little less telling, and a little more empowering will go a long way...

    Pros

    Good team environment and excellent culture and interaction within various departments. Good communication with sr. staffs. Freedom to work independently.

    Cons

    The work area is is too small. Better move to a bigger (good looking) building with good lab and test area.

    Pros

    IT has been good for me in terms of career growth, expanding in different direction (at least the office in San Jose). I cannot say the same for the Swiss headquarters though.

    Cons

    Management shows (or used to show) total disrespect toward employees. Pushing impossible deadlines and unreasonable number of projects handled simultaneously, leading to frustration an unusually high turnover from employees in my opinion.

    Advice to Management

    Demonstrate more faith and respect for employees.

    I worked at Tecan Systems as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good pay, and on the whole a friendly company.

    Cons

    Over-reliance on un-vetted external consulants and IT staff who seriously lack the skills and commitment to be working on medical devices. Senior and skilled staff leave at an alarming rate.

    External employees regarded as disposable. Hire-and-fire policy results in many people being laid-off only to be re-hired a couple of months later, rinse and repeat. This does not attract skilled staff.

    Poor management of externals. External IT managers with many conflicts of interests, abusive towards staff, internal and external, with no action taken when issues are raised - other than to let the offended employee go. A real "boys club" exists amongst the junior managers who close ranks so tightly you couldn't put a razor blade between them.

    Product quality suffers and projects are frequently delayed.

    Advice to Management

    Hire some decent IT managers who a) know the job and b) are not ripping you off.

    Modernste Technologie im Einsaatz. Programmiersprache und Entwicklungsumgebung up to date
