I have been working at TechStyle full-time

    Pros

Great benefit package, unlimited PTO, & work parties

    Cons

Bad management, bosses are clueless on what is going on within the team. Lots of butting head with other departments, makes projects difficult to complete. Team members/bosses gossip a lot, careful what you say.

I worked at TechStyle full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great pay = because they don't know better.
    Good insurance.

    Cons

No room for growth as they don't promote internally. Especially not in creative. Majority of all higher-ups hires their friends making it impossible to climb and grow in your career.

Lots of people (especially in Marketing) has 0 experience and simply don't know what they're doing even though they are being put on a gold pedestal.

Creative has no say what so ever. If you're a designer looking to grow and do beautiful, amazing things, look elsewhere. This company does not encourage being creative. Whatever Marketing says, creative has to do.

On all projects there's edits on edits on edits. It doesn't stop. Because the higher-ups are never aligned with what they want. Because no one trust one another to do their job.

Lots of toxic treatment from higher-ups and them asking their "peasants" for impossible deadlines.

I would not encourage anyone applying at this company.

    Pros

Laid back, no micro managing, a lot of talented and friendly employees, great facilities and vacation benefits.

    Cons

The work only allows for limited creativity/ can get repetitive. We are always chasing numbers so there are a few last minute changes.

    Pros

    A lot of company parties.
    Unlimited PTO
    Alcohol-friendly environment and in-house bar.

    Cons

Extremely low pay. For the same position and experience, you will be paid HALF of what you could get anywhere else.
    Poor communication between teams.
No resolution when vocalizing problems or issues.
Promised change or resolution never actually happens.
    Little growth.

    Pros

Great people, great energy, very transparent, and great leadership.

    Cons

Laying off important positions resulting in others essentially working 3 different jobs at once.

I have been working at TechStyle full-time

    Pros

Great company culture, committed leadership, low technology org turnover, technology leadership usually makes good personnel decisions, hard work is rewarded and there is a good amount of autonomy, engineering organization is all remote, good pay. I'm not familiar with other areas of the company as I am remote.

    Cons

Older stack (currently being modernized). Work-life balance getting skewed due to accumulation of technical debt.

    Advice to Management

Hiring process for tech employees could be better at vetting.

    I worked at TechStyle full-time

    Pros

Organized and solid infrastructure where you can gain experience in any role you apply for.

    Cons

People are insecure about their positions, so not a lot of growth opportunity and people can get competitive within their own teams. They say there is opportunity to grow in title or salary, but they don't really mean it. Almost impossible to get a raise, so negotiate your comp package upon hiring and expect it to stay there for a while.

    I worked at TechStyle full-time

    Pros

    - Unlimited PTO (You can more days off if you take advantage of it)
    - Definitely a 9-5 job (hours are good
    special Fridays off
    - Discounted cafeteria that’s ok

    Cons

    - Unlimited PTO (not highly encourage, fewer people take PTO out of guilt, and no PTO payout at the end)
    - 8 am meetings
    - Much of the engineering team is remote, which makes growth tough
    - No free lunches
    - Technology is old. They still use ColdFusion and don’t have a fully responsive website.
    - They tend to copy features from other successful websites rather than invent what’s best for them.
    - Decisions are often made based on an A/B testing system that doesn’t make any sense.
    - Communication isn’t good between projects
