I worked at Technicolor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Not exactly sure I can think of any pros with this company....

    Cons

Technicolor brought Cisco CDBU back on 11/20/2015. Before the transaction close, the CEO of connected home told everyone that they will keep all teams and lease new buildings for each site. 2 months after the closed, they shutdown the San Jose site. They gave employees the option to relocate to georgia or take a LO package. The LO package was payout bi-weekly like a regular paycheck instead of a lump sum payment, but once you find a job, they will stop payment. Everyone knows this company is cheap, but they promised one thing then lying about it... Then screw the employees they are laying off by paying them only until they find a job??? What kind of company does that to their employees??? Also, the relocation to georgia does not guarantee job security, so they want employees to sacrifice everything for them. another BS...

    Advice to Management

You guys are pathetic... What goes around comes around... I'm so happy I'm not working for this POS company anymore!

I have been working at Technicolor as a contractor

    Pros

Incredible talent, great teams, visionary ideas

    Cons

Exhausting processes impeding development and implementation of said visionary ideas, passive-aggressive management, no work - life balance - multiply the evil if you are a contractor.

    Advice to Management

Modernize stuck in in the past fossils of the processes, create non-existing onboarding of new employees, and for god's sake - enough with the PP presentations!

I have been working at Technicolor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Interesting product line, good products to work on, good cooperative team oriented employees.

    Cons

This company could be used over and over as a case study for what not to do in business. The management team has no strategy, and no vision other than cut costs and see what they can squeeze out of the remaining employees. The culture of incompetence is rampant with management. Senior managers create a culture of failure while beating down the engineering staff and treating them like they are second class citizens.

    Advice to Management

Fire the CEO, and the CEOs direct staff. Find a CEO who has real technology experience, knows something about products, and has a real vision of how to make a successful business.

    I worked at Technicolor full-time

    Pros

There are very few - good Benefits except they cut the company match for well over a year and got rid of the Pension Plan (but never touched benefits in other countries). Cool industry and got discounts on DVDs.

    Cons

Incredibly poor leadership and low quality HR team in Burbank. Philosophy is to treat employees very poorly so they resign on their own to save the company severance money. Layoffs were and continue to be rampant. French based employees are unionized and ALWAYS receive bonuses and pay increases while U.S. Employees are negatively impacted. Everyone I know who is still there is miserable.

    Advice to Management

Advice to the BOD - fire all senior leaders and start over. Treat employees as the number one resource they are and maybe you will have a chance of success.

    I worked at Technicolor full-time

    Pros

Well established and known company name. Well performed work by employees. Employees in general are good people.

    Cons

Technicolor delayed layoffs so they could update their severance policy, reducing severance for some people by up to 85% to avoid paying them out. This was extremely unethical and not in line with their values.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees as humans, not just numbers.
