I worked at Technip full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Leaders in their field. Some extremely clever and experienced employees. MD very approachable.
    Good benefits package and canteen.

    Cons

A little inexperience with some senior management. Downturn is hitting hard - but completely understandable that redundancies have been made - will continue to be made?

    Pros

    - Decent starting pay
    - Good development for graduates.
Good starting point in a career. Get 3-5 years of experience and leave, before wage and career stagnation sets in.

    Cons

    - Highly political fiefdoms, both organisation-wide and within departments.
    - Performance vs. Incentive is not correlated.
    - Confidentiality agreements prevent public from knowing that decimation is still ongoing.
    - Redundant personnel made to clear their desks and leave the facilities 30 mins after being informed of company's decision.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, and Merry Christmas.
We appreciate the effort making the hard decisions, however ham fisted and uninformed they were.
We know more retrenchments are to come, and hopefully you will get better at it.
The office clears on the dot these days, and work rate just slows or simply gets forgotten about.

The loss of information might hamper us greatly in the future, but for now, it's to trim the fat, to meet KPIs.

    Pros

Plenty of safety courses to attend, decent hotels for overnight stops

    Cons

they dont always practice what they preach on health and safety, especially when the ship is not producing due to technical difficulties or breakdown of equipment. Extreme pressure put on individuals to get the job done no matter what the cost, safety is put on the back burner. If you fail rf injure yourself they immediately blame you saying that you knew the rules you should have followed them and conveniently forget the pressures they put you under.

    Advice to Management

senior management need to realise the pressure put upon individuals and audit how a problem was overcome to ensure committment to H and S.

I worked at Technip (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Work life balance is good.

    Cons

Salary could be better. Hard to get a pay rise.

    Advice to Management

Although I was not one of those made redundant the general feeling was that the redundancies could have been handled better.

I have been working at Technip full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The project teams are a challenging but fun place to work. Great teams performing to very high standards, the focus is always on getting the job done and done well!

    Cons

Central management (and HR) have too much control and do no productive work, they are all about politics. More control should be devolved to the project teams which are in effect small separate companies, but without any say over their workforce.

    Advice to Management

Don't let certain individuals in power decide to rip apart project teams based on who they like and are friends with. It ruins moral, destroys productivity, removes faith in the company and angers the clients...

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Great fun team and a good group of people. The team was quite relaxed and not a stressful position. Nice new building at Aspect 32 but it's a shame that not everyone gets to work there.

    Cons

Being based in the huts by the yard is not a good working environment. From the temperature to the quality of the building - it's not the best. Especially when you compare it to the main building and the new offices at Aspect 32, it's not the best.

    Advice to Management

Have tighter control on the team to make it more productive but otherwise, it was a good experience working there.

I have been working at Technip full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Massive organisation with lots of opportunities for career progression

    Cons

Can feel isolated in certain departments, no or limited interaction with other departments. No competancies to strive towards to climb the ladder.

    Advice to Management

Competancy scheme for all engineers not just those working in the business units. A lot of engineers in the maintenance and operations departments become disillusioned with there chance of promotions so end up leaving or heading to the business units so they dont get forgotten about
