    Pros

Friendly co workers and environment is very good!

    Cons

It would be boring sometimes to work on same stuff everyday

    Pros

Great Experience for a young intern. You get a lot of experience and are able to contribute to projects you would be unable to at a larger company. Also pretty flexible

    Cons

Not many, but pay is probably a little low for interns. Also there is somewhat of a lack of feedback on how well you are doing your job.

    Advice to Management

Give more feedback and give interns a pay raise. Also Expand the hours interns can work from 30 to 40. Maybe make yourself more visible to interns.

I have been working at Technology Business Research as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The entire TBR team is eager and willing to help interns learn as much as they can during their time as an intern. No matter what the question, who you ask, or why you need the answer someone will always be there to help you through the problem. As an intern i have the chance to be an integral member of the development of reports as well as in the analysis of companies i work with. In a job market that persistently asks for "on the job experience" you won't find a better place to learn and develop your skills than TBR.

    Cons

Admittedly, the pay could be better, but as a full-time student it's hard to complain when making anything from an internship other than the class credits and experience.

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to expect more from the interns. It's a young group, but its full of talent that is waiting to be tapped. Often I feel interns think they should be waiting to be told what to do next and while personally, i appreciate management not micromanaging their employees, it wouldn't hurt dish out more work.

I have been working at Technology Business Research full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good people to work with, on a personal level, they treat their employees very well. The President of the company is a great guy and he really connects with his employees. The company is headed in the right direction I believe and has garnered some real recognition within the industry. I did not work on the research side of the house so I do not have much insight into that portion of the company on a day-to-day basis. The company meetings are informative and the suite at Hampton Beach Casino is a great perk for the employees to take advantage of!

    Cons

The middle and upper-middle management is where the issues lie. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians, so to speak. Everyone in management has a different direction on where you should spend your time and it can really lead to frustration for the employees.

    Advice to Management

Get everyone on the same page and do not micromanage everything.

I have been working at Technology Business Research full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Great place to start career in terms of experience, giving interns, RAs and analysts (all in their 20s) significant exposure to intensive writing, modeling, custom project work and communication with many executives in tech world
-For a small company, a very impressive client list that buy syndicated material / custom project work (by my count, a few dozen from the Fortune 500)
-Small company size also allows a lot of room to take tech research; upper management is extremely approachable about work ideas & willing to institute new project provided a vendor is willing to buy them
-Company tries best to align work with your work interests, although supply issues don't always make it feasible
-Current Director of Operations Josh Farina is one of the friendliest / most caring people I have ever had the pleasure to work with; while company gets crazed at time with work, he's the glue that holds company's sanity together as middle man between senior mgmt. and analysts et al
    -Overall, very friendly co-workers
-Notable perks: Lots of vacation time (15 days to start +1 additional every year worked); company takes off every holiday (even Columbus Day and Black Friday); Free tickets to Hampton Ballroom Casino; great dental plan w/ Guardian in place

    Cons

-Company has a take on work first, allocate time later mentality & periodically have to work late weeks as a result. The four practices are not created equally, and some (especially software) have a much harder time with work control
-Directions given and methodologies used for custom projects often feel jumbled / unsophisticated and too often feels like quality work is not being delivered
-Company is trying to better integrate between practices, but senior level sometimes snipe across practices; RAs use to work all in one room but over past year have been moved into practice halls & company has lost a lot of commradarie in this area
-Pay is not very competitive; No grad school pay if you are seeking that
-Lack of perks include: No 401k matching; most married people are on spouse's health plan due to high premiums; vacation time subject to syndicated work

    Advice to Management

Headhunt a few extremely talented people from top research companies (IDC, Gartner etc.) to help institute better practices for modeling / report / project quality. Emphasize project planning ahead of actually taking on projects.

    Pros

Technology Business Research is a great place to work because of its relaxed and accommodating culture, as well as the support provided by upper management.

    Cons

The business is small but growing which means some of the work related processes are less organized or structured as opposed to a more developed company.

    Advice to Management

From what I have observed management at Technology Business Research is moving the company in the right direction, as we just past the $10 million revenue mark this past year.

    Pros

Regular recognition in the press and a fairy high level of national exposure

    Cons

The company was very cheap on things like travel budget and raises. But it was a small company that needed to be cost conscious.

    Advice to Management

They need to improve their role as mentors to the more junior analysts.

    Pros

Small firm that cares about eachother. Great atmosphere. Great benefits for a small firm.

    Cons

Competitive market, but TBR should do well in the future.

    Advice to Management

    None.
