Told there was opportunity for advancement and the benefits were great.
Fired after four weeks of employment for reasons insufficient and embellished. Told I could return after I acquire more experience in the field. Position I held ceased to exist within weeks of firing. Vindicated after thorough vetting by Employment Security Dept. and being awarded Employer-Paid unemployment benefits. I am the sole breadwinner of a family with 4 children. I left a good job to join TECK and had hopes of making a career there. TECK was not justified in the firing and subsequently leaving our family high and dry for the 8 weeks it took the ESD to conduct their investigation.
Advice to Management
Having integrity will save TECK money in the long run. And it prevents damage being done to the professional and personal reputation of a hard working family man. Choose simple verbal training before resorting to firing a man over write-ups for two unrelated mistakes that were made due to inexperience (and caused the company no damage) and were preceded by ZERO verbal warnings. The mistakes of the hiring/firing managers continues to cost TECH money: full pre-hire physical, 40 hours of training, and now months of Unemployment payments--all for an employee of four weeks.

- Pays well
- If you like taking long uninterrupted vacations, the opportunities exists
- if you make it to management, you can become entrenched.
- There is a lot of talk about safety first, but the actions don't always back up that talk
- entrenched bureaucracy and incompetent management
- Most employees are disengaged and if they are enthusiastic, the environment beats it out of them
- work/life balanced ultimately sucked. 60% of my life is spent at a remote location away from friends and family? Take me out back and put me out of my misery.

have a great career opportunity for engineers.
4/2 weeks or 2/1 weeks rotation. Have to deal with life-work balance.
Opportunity to be exposed to a variety of geophysical programs for their exploration projects
Exploration budget restrictions inhibited further opportunity
good, good sal, good oppor, good benefits, very good
none, no cons. overall its very good
Your always on time to work. Have friends close and eat, sleep as a family.
Traveling on airplane to get there and the extreme weather conditions.
Good Pay, not much else.
Management gives promises they cannot follow through. They will work you to death, lack of work and life balance,. They preach safety but do not follow through with it, production is rated higher than safety. Getting a transfer is an act of congress. No real career growth potential.
Advice to Management
Dont be such tools.
Well written procedures
Strong employee wellness program
Shift work with night shifts
Workplace hazards due to heavy industry
Good pay and benefits nice equipment
