    Pros

Overall middle management is upbeat an positive. The restaurant and the patrons are a nice enviornment. Salaries are not bad.

    Cons

Unethical behavior from the top down. Lack of benefits, lack of compassion, Lack of overall benefits, compensation, and work/ life balance.

    Advice to Management

Lead by example. Act with integrity, be transparent and honest. Be respectful of co-workers and employees. Try to be forward thinking, instead of doing the minimum required.

    Pros

For a waiting gig, this place is pretty busy so the tips are great when not slow. Very professional, scripted table greets...
Great buddy system, everything is just set up to run SUPER smoothly

    Cons

Sometimes too systematic - they do it for consistency but saying "fresh, complimentary home made flour tortillas" 100 times a day sometimes gets old.

    Advice to Management

If you are going to scrutinize one employee, make sure you do it to the rest ... fair treatment makes things easier.

I worked at Ted's Cafe Escondido part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent approach to service- customers almost always leave happy!
Very fast paced and tables are turned quickly.

    Cons

Long hours with very short breaks.
A lot of personal pressure. All customers complete a comment card immediately after you serve them.

    Advice to Management

For this format to be successful, incredible managers have to be put into place. The only time I wasn't happy was when we had weak managers. It made it difficult to work really hard when we weren't inspired.

I worked at Ted's Cafe Escondido part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy job, chance to make some interesting friends, plenty of hours.

    Cons

Pay sucks, server assistants are treated like trash, management seems unsympathetic of workforce personal and work related problems.

    Advice to Management

Treat your staff with more respect, give those struggling the knowledge they need to further enhance their work ethic (not just "ya gotta keep movin' man") , make the work environment more enjoyable, and for God's sake update your damn manuals!
