I worked at Tektronix Texas full-time

    Pros

At least in my department, people are generally good & knowledgeable.

    Cons

Things were better under Rick Wills.
Since the acquisition by Danaher, constant layoff, too focus on money at expense of long term vision and good people.
Lack of advancement. Not innovative. Low pay.

    Advice to Management

    Need long term vision

    Pros

Fast Paced cutting edge technology. Job security a plus.

    Cons

Extremely high expectations regarding workload and number of hours worked. Reluctant to hire hard working and loyal contractors to permanent full time positions. Some Senior Managers have little or no technical background and struggle to relate and understand the efforts put forth by front line System Engineers. "Raises" are laughable and hardly enough to cover the average cost of living increases such as fuel and energy costs (that doesn't seem to be an issue for the folks in sales however).

    Advice to Management

Remember people have lives outside of the work environment too. As the IT & Telecom industry begins to recover, employees will flock to their previous employers by the masses, it's already happening.

    Pros

The company had very good benefits. Also, the people there were very friendly and easy to work with. Lots of knowledgeable people work there.

    Cons

The company has cubicles now which I do not like. The environment is not very open anymore. They seem to micromanage everything you do
