I have been working at Teledyne RD Instruments full-time

    Pros

If you get a fun project, with exciting co-workers it can be very fun and rewarding. If you get a good boss, the work environment can be relaxed, efficient, and flexible. Technology can be exciting, and innovative.

    Cons

There are several not-so-fun projects, and several un-inspired coworkers. It can become a negative place to work if you do not recognize your situation and speak up to your manager. Salaries are generally less than market average, because they base them off of a national average instead of a local average. Raises and bonuses are sub-par, even for high performers.

    Advice to Management

Change salaries to local averages, and larger bonuses to top performers. This will bring in new talent, and keep current talent in the building.

I worked at Teledyne RD Instruments full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The technology and its applications are very interesting and challenging. Much of the engineering work centers on complex multi-mode systems using a variety of technologies both digital and analog.

    Cons

Management is slow to react to the needs of the engineers, and are resistant to change. "We've always done it that way" is a typical response in spite of it being obsolete/inadequate for a given situation. Production shipments generally out weigh quality issues in decision making.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the needs of your engineers, support them and assist them as needed.
