I have been working at Telefónica full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Good shifts
    - They accept recent graduates and even students.
    - Once you finish your shift you are off the hook.

    Cons

    - Training is provided by peers, zero formal training, thus you are as good as your peers, and can have big gaps of knowledge that your superiors expect you to know.
    - Salary is way below NOC averages.
    - Opportunities to grow in the company are almost non-existent.

    Advice to Management

    - Create a list of approved topics your NOC Analysts need to know, and create at least a basic training manual that newcomers can go by.

    Pros

Big name in the CV working in big projects with the chance to meet big companies as customers

    Cons

    Really bad working environment
Every one needs to approve everything, so little space for improvisation even though they ask to "think out of the box"
HR treats you as you were a terrorist, always undervaluing your capacities

I have been working at Telefónica full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible working hours and salary.

    Cons

Lack of processes, much bureaucracy and disorganization in the Brazilian branch after the merger with GVT.
Stressful work environment, does not have tools to perform some work, a lot of pressure to meet goals, a lot of rework because there are many changes in the projects and objectives. Bad managers who tell you to do anything to beat goals.

    Advice to Management

Develop clear processes and disseminate to the teams and areas involved. Conduct prior team alignment meetings before putting procedures into place. Training of new processes and tools. Organize and standardize solutions.

    Pros

Variety of situations to deal with
Good staff plan for your phone/tablet
It's a satisfying feeling when you help a customer with something that's been worrying them

    Cons

    Poor pay
    Poor management
    Poor training
Horrible work environment - some stores can be extremely cliquey
    Favouritism
    Lack of support network
    Lack of trust
    Stress

    Advice to Management

Backstabbing colleagues, favouritism, terrible management with no support when it comes to confrontation with customers, ringing Capita's idea of customer services often exacerbates already challenging situations, don't rely on hitting your bonus every three months because the targets are ridiculous and don't take into account fairly major things such as footfall, rude and aggressive customers on literally a daily basis - do expect to stay well beyond half five at least once a week serving such people (unpaid, of course), and do also expect to go without a lunch break sometimes because you're so understaffed. Poor pay if you're in an underperforming store that doesn't hit bonus - and if that's the case, expect to be put on a shortfall plan and constantly fear for your job whilst you're trying to pay your rent. A retail job should not keep you awake at night with stress.

Management need to offer more support to their employees and take more responsibility when things go wrong, as they often do. Senior management need to be more realistic about targets. It's not fun having to strong-arm little old ladies who just want to put some credit on their phone into taking out a contract they don't need, but you have to or you'll be disciplined. I guess it's probably an alright job if you just need to make some extra money while you're at uni.

    Cons

I have been working at Telefónica full-time

    Pros

Good office facilities & comfortable work space. Friendly culture.

    Cons

Dysfunctional management structure & too many long serving staff avoiding responsibility. Poor leadership at middle management level. Many teams way too big for managers to correctly support.

    Advice to Management

Middle level management needs restructuring and training. Teams based across multiple sites should be centralised.

    Pros

Great staff who love what they do.
    Helping serving customers.

    Cons

Poor management who lead from the back. They never want to deal with customer escalations & when their bonus is threatened by not hitting target they threaten to fire you.
No support from the business when reading a grievance.
No support from the business when dealing with stress in the workplace
    Poor bonus structure
    Lack of business information
    Lack of incentives

    Advice to Management

Start leading from the front instead of deligating your job & then complaining when things aren't done correctly. Lead your staff inspire them don't talk down to them! And last but not least stop pretending your 3 hour lunch break is about the store is so lame & only create disgruntled staff when your getting paid 3 times their wages and not even working half the day!
